Anime-ted Bass Players group

I haven't played many anime songs, the most recent one I've looked at is Kiri by Monoral (Ergo Proxy intro). But I am very much into Japanese music. My favorite band is GO!GO!7188, with great songs such as C7, Otona no kusuri and (cover) Kokoro no tabi.
Monoral sounds too regular for me, I guess

This is a good club. It's nice to see I'm not the only one to have an obsession with Yoko Kanno's work. May I get a number?
Here's my contribution:
- Darker Than Black. One of Kanno's recent works, it has a few funk/jazz pieces with really kickass basslines, such as Go Dark (how does one get this sound? Jazz Bass into a cranked SVT?) and Guy.
- Gurren-Lagann. One of Gainax's latest series, it is not only a show full of grade A kickass, its opening, Sora Iro Days, also features some really nifty bass work. Shame Youtube completely ruins the dynamics with its crappy automatic compression, but I couldn't find a better version.
- Evangelion was mentioned, but nobody gave a link: here's Cruel Angel's Thesis. Good song, excellent bassline, totally pointless guitar solo.
- R.O.D. the TV. This is a repost, but the rhythm section work on this song is so brilliant it deserves one.
More to come later, maybe. Also, it's not anime, but I figure you guys might like it anyways: I'm currently learning this song. Castlevania IV -- Theme of Simon Belmont.

Trigun and Tank were the first anime bass-lines I learned. But I'm totally in love with Fumi, the bassist of the Polysics. She has kick ass tone and a discontinued Yamaha bass that I would sell a kidney to get my hands on. I saw them in Detroit with Black Gold. Their bassist is a monster in the pocket as well.

The only place where this was a problem at Fanimecon was the bathroom. But there, it was really a problem. A problem of about the "OH DEAR LORD WHY?!!!!!!!" levels.

But I think I'll join in on this. I love J-rock! The bassist is almost always a core element to the melody of any given song, especially in anime! Lovin' it all the way.

I just finished watching the entire Irresponsible Captain Tylor collection (both tv series + ova's) without breaks... wheeee... my brain will be mush the entire day.
I haven't watched a lot of anime in awhile since I grew kind of bitter while working in the industry, but my favorites are the Vision of Escaflowne, FLCL, and Cowboy Bebop. I also love anything done by Satoshi Kon (Paranoia Agent, Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, etc.). Millennium Actress has some amazing techno-esque songs in it. I personally think Yoko Kanno's best sountrack work is still Escaflowne.
As for music that hasn't been mentioned, I thought it was cool when a band I liked for awhile, Veltpunch, ended up getting one of their songs as an opening theme to Naruto ("Crawl"). Even though I don't really like Naruto, the show has had its share of opening themes that I like. You should really check out Veltpunch. Their songs are a little spastic, but catchy and Aiko, their bass player, is pretty good. She sings and plays, too. You can tell they're a little influenced by Number Girl, a very famous Japanese indie band.
Had one for awhile and sold it last year. I'm a big FLCL fan (and I worked on the US production of the show), but I eventually decided that my basses should be played, not be collector's items. I just wasn't playing it as much as my G&Ls.
They're great live. Pretty amazing actually. They always managed to put on a great show, despite Miya (the bass player) being anemic and exhausted after every show. She was a monster on stage. Too bad they broke up recently.
