Another craigslist mistake

I like this ad. They clearly state their ambitions (or lack thereof) and make the goal of this band obvious. Come and have fun rockin' out. I'd much rather have this stated upfront than have reality set in later on after possibly turning down other offers. The ironic thing is that is just the kind of band that is an overnight sensation. 
Sounds like the ad was written by committee but the grumpy one didn't arrive until it was almost completely written.
I see some projection going on here but I may be mistaken. Either that or they had a bad run with a d*ckhead.
My red flags:
1) Sounds like a Career Rehearsal situation....For me this would by OK if just doing original music but not covers
2) use of intended expletives
3) use of the word "fired" in a situation that isn't employment and paying me anything

no red flags in the listing to me. they know what they want, put out there what their goals are and what they're looking for. i wish everyone who put up a musicians wanted ad (or any other ads) would do the same.
in 1998, i put an ad on the recycler (the print version before CL) as a bass player looking for musicians to jam or form a band or a band to join. one of the many people i played with was this guitar player. we formed one of the 3 bands i ended up with, and later on, ended up in a pop band and a cover band together. years later, we ended up married, and we still are.

I get that this would suit some people, but there's a huge disconnect for me: they want some one who is a "veteran", has the gear, dedicated, does there homework and reliable to rehearse indefinitely to get READY to gig, but not actually gig? If everyone is dedicated and does the homework, then why aren't they going to be looking for gigs in a few months? Are they looking for a bass player to be in their band or are they looking for a new friend to hang out with?
A week or so ago I replied to an ad that was looking to form a tribute to a not-particularly-successful 80's rock band, I listened to a lot back in the day. I realistically noted that the band in question were currently still touring, and playing the same venues we'd be targeting, and I thought it was a long shot, but if he could put a band together and find gigs, I'd be interested. I suggested learning a 4 tracks and seeing if it was possible to get a gig based on those...
Within a few minutes I got a reply back saying I "didn't want to do the work, and just come in when the work was all done". I'm getting a similar vibe here: that there's some kind of unspecified "work to be done" other than learn the songs, go out and play them. I've no idea what was going on with the guy I messaged, but my guess is he has some vision of what the band should be, and doesn't want reality to intrude on it.
Some people think a "band" is a group of people who own instruments (usually) and hang out together once a week. It's like Golf or Fishing - they don't actually want to catch fish, they just want to go out and have some personal time not thinking about work or family stress. That's fine, but be honest - don't ask for an experience, dedicated musician who will do the homework and turn up reliably, because even if they're great to hang outwith, the dedicated musician will want to perform music at some point.

The only thing that would give me pause is the 'not looking to gig immediately' part. I have no time to waste on 'projects' that will never leave the basement. The rest of the post is refreshing - how many times have we all been in a room with some hack who thinks he's the next coming? They are trying to cut that off on the front end.
The thing is, anybody who comes off as "thinking (they're) the next coming," or is a "d!c$f@ce," isn't self-aware enough to realize it....otherwise they wouldn't act like that. The only thing that ad is going to weed out are good, professional-acting, serious musicians.
