Thanks. Finally heard from him and it looks like we're all in agreement to move forward tentatively, just to brush the cobwebs off. No one wants to go into any bars or enclosed spaces with large groups of people yet, including me, and I have no idea when that's going to be a possibility, so playing out is probably largely on hold still for a while here. I may be able to set something up outdoors at first, but since we're silent stage, moving all my monitoring gear out there will be a pain, so maybe not. Or maybe I can find a way to do it with a headphone amp.
In the meantime, I keep an eye on my local stats for new cases in my county, and if it looks like we're seeing any trend toward increased risk, we'll act accordingly. I don't know why I didn't hear earlier from him but relieved that we are all on the same page.
This whole thing has been very difficult for all of us. So much disinformation it's hard to know what is the right thing to do. It feels a little foolish to react overly cautious, but at the same time, not being cautious cold lead to people getting sick (or worse).
My take on this is that everyone needs to be comfortable with gathering. If someone is not, patience is still the answer. Non communication is a problem though and that always drives me nuts. I agree that calling and talking may be the answer to this - I hate texting for more than a 3 or 4 word communication.
I personally wouldn't invest a lot of money to make my house "safer" (in this context) just for band rehearsals. I think that is pressing a bit for something that may not be of value in a few months. If you want to do that for yourself, then that's a different story.
Before you throw in the bass, get together with those who do want to gather and have some fun - getting back together with my band has been so refreshing. We want to be ready when things open back up, so even though there's not a lot happening yet, we're casually sharpening and working out a few new tunes. Even if we just had a partial band, the act of getting together is been a big deal for us. Probably especially for me - it's pretty much my social life. Having seen nobody else I know (other then my Mother for a couple of distanced backyard visits) for three months has been difficult - who knew I'd miss the tiny bit of social interaction I get at the office?

What is the definition of a case? A positive test? An Admission? A death? are those accurate or biased? If biased, in what direction?
What is the3 definition of a trend? How many points in a row going up? How far above a baseline? What is the baseline for comparison? Is it the correct one? Based on what statistical principle? How far a rise is necessary until it isn't just "random variation"
How much risk is there? At a low end? At a High end? And maybe a typical level? Based on what conditions?
Just asking some really important things based on what you said. Wondering if you considered all of that. If not you could just flip a coin...Not being a jerk. Just saying we are making random decisions and have no idea what we are doing and then pretending it is informed, accurate, sensible or whatever.
I fully support your decision to engage in whatever level of risk you do/do not choose. We all have to and should. But then, we should also be well informed...which I do not believe we are.
my drummer did this a number of times recently.......wouldn't respond with a yay or nay or anything about 3-4 upcoming possible dates. gave him 6 weeks. no word.
sent a group chat on a Friday morning asking if my band knew any other drummers that could communicate a Yes or No to gig inquiries and might want to join us.
