Another Shooting

It seems possible that the police may be unwilling to put their necks out and find that Zimmerman really didn't have probably cause to be afraid.

On the other hand, it seems plain to a number of people in this thread that Zimmerman - as the person who initiated contact, who chased after Martin, who was the adult in the situation, who was larger, and who was armed - that he really didn't have cause to be afraid as the entire situation seems to be one that he instigated.

I think a competent prosecutor could site the factors you just mentioned and put together a case for Zimmerman's arrest.

Before it is all over, Zimmerman may wish Florida had tried him because if the Feds investigate and decide they have enough evidence to try him, he could be looking at life in prison or very close to it. There is talk of investigating his actions as a hate crime which could give him life in prison. If his actions can be prosecuted under the denial of civil rights statute, he could be looking at maybe thirty years in prison too. Remember, the federal system no longer has parole.

The call I linked to is only 2:42 in length and contrary to what people were saying this is not a 911 call, this is a call directly to the Sanford Police Dept and I think the odds are high that Zimmerman is speaking to a LEO.

My point is that you seem to be missing an important point, i.e. Martin ran from Zimmerman, he didn't walk away as you described. You say you know that, but you omit that from your comments.
At 17 I would have run from a stranger trying to stop me who did not say "Police officer STOP!" The boy was running home... to his dad... that is why he was killednyards from his dad,s house.

As for the picture...How do we know that picture is more than a year old? We don't so that statement is irreleavent.

How do you know he was running home to his dad's house? I would dare say that we don't know......so does that make that statement irrelevant?

I asked you politely to state your opinion based on what you know so far. Since you are always posting questions of me, I would expect to show enough respect to answer my post, whatever you think.

I have no need to answer your questions, just as you frequently dodge mine. You are owed no more respect than you earn.

That said, here you go: I have no opinion at this point. There's tons of spin on both sides of this argument and tons of conflicting information. To form an opinion at this point would be premature. To assume that there's no slant to the media reporting would be ignorant. To draw the conclusion that the prosectors are doing nothing and the police are actively covering this up shows bias in those holding those opinions.

OK, I appreciate your honesty. It's good to know how you think. For what it's worth, except for when I had you on ignore, I have answered your posts.

That's an assumption.

Which is? That his family said he went to the store, or that he had items from the store?

Or the logic of: he went to the store + he had items from the store + he was somewhere between the store and home = he was returning home?

It's not the only possibility, but given those facts (if they are facts, I only know what's been reported) it seems the likeliest one. What's another likely possibility given all of that?

Sav'n Bass made the assumption that Martin was running home. He does not know that, because none of the evidence provided so far proves that.

You, on the other hand, are missing the point. Just because Martin was, at one time, heading home, does not mean that he didn't change or alter his path, or head in a different direction after his encounter with Zimmerman.

OK - how about an unarmed youth, who hasn't been accused of doing anything wrong, died? Let's remember that he's the only one dead in this whole scenario.

It is naive to assume that an unarmed man can't be dangerous, and pose a threat to another. There is a presumption that, if a man with a gun shoots a man without a gun, that the shooter is always in the wrong.

I don't understand what you are suggesting. I believe I recall that Zimmerman stated that Martin noticed him (Zimmerman) while he was in his car on the phone to 911 - if Martin changed from his initial path home at that point, what are you suggesting that means?

Are you sober? I'm not suggesting it means anything. I'm suggesting that Sav'n Bass couldn't possibly know to where Martin was running. That is all.
