Anthony Jackson Health Status?

Interesting tidbit about that gig: I just recently read Chris Jisi's ~15 year old article Contrabass Conception in which AJ mentions that even though he played that Ken Smith bass on the tour, for the Tour De Force: Live album that was released from it he went back into the studio and re-recorded all his bass parts using his "Career Girl" Fender Jazz Bass!

Yup,
For some reason they didn't like the sound of the Smith.

Really.
They're not making it up. Incredibly common.
I can't believe you actually asked the first question.
C'mon man....
Yeah, pretty naif from my part.

I know in the studio all kinds of things happen, I just never thought they would do that live. Live is live, or so I thought.

At least I don't believe WWE is real. Not all is lost.

One of my favourite albums is "A Physical Presence" by Level 42. Those guys rightly have a great reputation as a fantastic live band. But comparing the "live" versions to the raw recordings of the concerts which the album tracks were taken from reveals some interesting things (including at least one entirely re-recorded bass track and various vocal re-recordings - amongst other things). Part of me was disappointed but part of me was also relieved. :p

If you want REAL live you have to go back at least to the 60's more likely 50's and even some of that has some stuff rerecorded. I read something about a famous concert with Charlie Parker in Canada with Charles Mingus on bass, Charles had to re-record the whole concert as his bass was inaudible, I guess it was released as recorded though in 2002.
