Any 2X12" cabinet users out there ?

I've been using the Aguilar GS212, which I totally love. I have also tried the Epifani T212, which didn't sound good for me at all. It sounded much better for the guy trying to sell it to me. He had some 1600-watt power amp, whereas I "only" have a Thunderfunk. Still, the Aguilar has sounded good with almost any combination of amp & bass. The Aguilar 212 fills the stage and the room. No PA needed. 10s, I found too focused. The sound level from spot to spot in the room was very uneven with 10s. The Aguilar 212 weighs <70 lbs and costs <$700 new, making it a very practical all-in-one solution. To be even more practical, I am now switching to a pair of Aguilar GS 112s. I can take only one for most non-loud situations, and they weigh 40 lb. each. (And do a surprisingly close to complete job, sonically. Two together are a definite improvement, but one ain't half bad.)

I have the same rig, but I was expecting great tone from G-B when I bought it. I was not disappointed and would buy it again tomorrow.

Though it's not directly related to your potential G-B purchase, I've been using an Eden D212XLT for a while now and am loving it.

I'm running a Sunn Model T through it and it's pretty awesome. I would like a little more low end, but because I have a fairly grindy rock tone, it suits me fine for now.

I did run an Ampeg SVTIII Pro through it at the shop and it had quite a good thump to it in the low registers.

I have a Schro 1212 which kept up pretty good in a medium sized venue - a bar with capacity of about 150. I had no PA support and had to compete with a 1/2 stack,a 2x12 guitar combo and a loud drummer. Now both of our guitarists have Marshall 1/2 stacks. With our loud drummer I get lost in the mix during band practice. We play ALternative rock/hard rock and it gets real loud. I am thinking about selling the Schro and getting a 4x10+1x15. I guess I just expected too much from it with all the hype about Schroeder cabs..in the end any 2x12 is gonna have a hard time keeping up with two marshall 1/2 stacks and a loud ass drummer!

The Epi 212UL is a very full bodied and powerful cab, great for 5 string. The new Performance Series 112's (with 2 of them) have a more tonal range in it's voicing and a little more focused than the UL's. The PS112's are 300 watts @ 4 ohms and 38 lbs. Listed for $399.00 each and should be available early April. I use an Epi 410UL for most of my gigs but also 2-Epi 112UL's and we play everything from jazz, r/b and heavy rock and my Fodera 5 cuts through the mix easily.
