Any DIY pedal builders on TB? Strut your stuff!

Here's an interesting one - at least for me, as I'm not really an "EQ guy". It's the PedalPCB version of Spacemans Equinox, which itself is based on the (legendary?) Pultec EQ.

It does equalize allright and is sounding good doing it, but I still have to get the hang of it.

Looks great. Looks like a very useful tool. You can get lost in that one for hours if not days. High cut / low cut and a high boost ?? Kinda strange but I could see it being useful. Would be interesting to try in different places in the chain . As always, great job.

just finished this one. it's a Kustom K200 preamp in a 1590B with a relayed true bypass. the Kolor (they called it cascade) pays homage to the K200's that i played thru in 1969 at the teenage fair at the Paladium in Hollywood California.

At top left are kid painted Andromeda and Aphelion. Then Binary and Maelstrom at top right.
Bottom left in red is a Rift modded to Depth Charge specs. Then theres Hyper Cube with unique stacked pcb's. The two bigger boxes are TS-50B and Ember.
My top picks of the group are TS-50B, then Binary, Hyper Cube and Ember.

You should add in what the aion projects are based on to save everyone needing to look it up - they look great!
 
Had some pcbs made.
The MM3 band Pre schematic came from a post on TB . I think DiCosmo started it a while back. Sounds pretty good. It lacks a slight bit in the Mids but overall not bad. I have a project bass I may try it in. I need to get some stacked potentiometers.

I’m very pleased with the PIC bypass.
It is an open source from CODA Effects. It works great . I had my doubts because I really struggle with coding and things of that nature. It did take 2 tries on the coding but , Viola success in the end and I learned a little bit about coding. I also learned I have a lot more to learn about coding, lol.

The Nebulous is just another muff, albeit it sounds GREAT on bass. It’s hard to say exactly what it’s based on. It uses 2 - 2N5457 and 2 - 1N4001 for clipping diodes. I socketed the 2N5457s so I could try different options. It has great low end retention and probably one of the best Muffs I’ve heard , ( based on personal preference)

What is the heat sink for - and where does the hot air go?
My uneducated guess - passive heat dissipation over the heatsink surface?

Since the heat isn't going to be massive, neither a big heatsink nor active cooling with a fan is needed, but it might be too hot/"better safe than sorry" to not have any heatsink at all.

Another alternative would be to drill holes in the enclosure for air circulation, but that might have not been chosen for aesthethic purposes.

I hope I got at least 1 thing right! :woot:
 
Why, thanks, I think you might be right there as this is what a heat sink usually used for. :laugh:
I do understand the general principle ^^
Let me rephrase my question: which component in this pedal requires a heat sink?
my guess that is it's part of the power supply.
