This is my first job on a "own" pedal. It is not really my own, because I have use different existing schematics. The only own work was to create a pcb, that fits in a 1590B enclosure.
It is a preamp of a Sunn Beta Bass:

Is this the official TB DIY effects thread? I was looking for one and this seems to be the closest thing I could find, so I figured I might as well post what I've been doing.

About 6 years ago or so I made my first pedal, a Woolly Mammoth clone. I intended to build others and get more in to it, but, you know how life goes sometimes!

After installing some pickups in my bass a couple of months ago I decided that I'd like to get back in to learning to build pedals again since I had a lot of parts already and still had everything needed to do the work.

These are the three I've got in progress now. From left to right they are the PCB clones for a DAM Ezekiel, Catalinbread Sagrado Poblano Picoso, and a Crowther Prunes and Custard.

The Ezekiel PCB is done, but the enclosure and jacks are in my next shipment, along with the parts to finish up the others. Should be here this week sometime, so hopefully they'll be good to go soon.

Right on, man. Did you follow someone's plans or did you trace the schematics yourself? I've been building from the Tagboard Effects site but just got myself some breadboards as I want to learn to trace schems myself and transfer them to vero.

For everything I've built so far I've used the plans provided by the good people at Tagboard Effects who have already done the hard work. They have a ton of stuff that has been verified, definitely worth checking out: Guitar FX Layouts: Site Map NEW

I've planned out a couple of strip board layouts from schematics and also built a handful of GGG kits. Found a lot of good ideas and inspiration on tagboardeffects and pcb sites.

^^^ You "tagboard guys" have all my respect! I'm still chilling in the PCB-comfort zone. ^^^

Here's another fruit of my obsession with Sunn, the amps and the band.
It's a Fuzzdog Death Drive (Life Pedal V2 without boost and EXP in) into a Coda Effects Black Hole (Model T simulation with a LBP1 boost up front, that I put on the outside, with a footswitch with it's own pilot light). It's a beast!

That's 2 PCBs that I populated and then put into the the same box, assuming they might go well together.
I made some changes to the intended use of the boost in the Black Hole (outside pot instead of trimpot inside, footswitch with pilot light added).

That's my usual way of building: I buy bare PCBs (from all over the place) and then sometimes change or add a few things.

I started with vero because I didn't really know any better. The premade PCBs were more intimidating and I got multiple sheets of vero for what a standard PCB cost. Sourcing everything like that allowed me to build my first pedal (Woolly Mammoth clone) for something like $50, and that was with buying 2-3 times the parts (minus the enclosure and jacks).

I have a couple of people who I've offered to make pedals for since I want more practice and I've let them choose from the Tagboard site as well as Pedal PCB, so I'm looking forward to getting some experience with the premade PCBs.

Also, I submitted this early on accident because I'm on mobile and my big fat fingers decided to hit submit.

One more edit to add some progress shots of the Ezekiel from yesterday. I know I'm taking a chance wiring everything up like this without testing first. Be sure to cross your fingers for me.

You're missing a 470pF, according to the page you linked. Unless you left it off on purpose. Also, I'm assuming it's a 470pF, it's not really listed anywhere I saw.

So I started gathering parts for the DAM Ezekiel today. I know I said I wasn't going to do a pedal right now, but I have to do a parts order for my other project (Peavey FrankenCirrus mod thread if you want to take a peek. Page 8 has some nice pics) and I figured it would be good to know what I need. Not trying to brag, but I had everything except the pots on hand. I was pretty surprised I had the right Germanium diodes. Jacks arent in the photo, but I have a bunch.

I don't have the strip board he uses, but I had a variety of different size plated through hole project boards. You have to make your own 'traces' on the back with leads or jumpers.

If it sounds good, I'll do a better board.

I have that Hammond 1590 project box, but just for testing I'll reuse my console test fixture after I get done testing out this preamp setup for the Cirrus project I listed above. It's also a bit of a mess, but it's a test mule. Theres the rotary switch for the Ezekiel
