I made a LTspice model of the next pedal i intend to build to try to learn something.

I was about to make a Rothwell Love Squeeze a while back, but then I read quite a few stories about it distorting on bass. I came across this fix but never got around to build one:

Instead I built an Engineer's Thumb that I really love (replaced my Aguilar TLC, that again replaced an MXR M87), and I've also made a DOD280 for when I want an optical comp, and to experiment with home rolled LDRs. But please post some clips if you make a Rothwell Love Squeeze, or try the fixes in the link. It's an interesting circuit!

Rothwell Love Squeeze

I used a Love Squeeze for bass for a couple years and it never distorted once. It is so clean, transparent, and super quiet. Just saying that the stock values can work for bass.

Those work nicely in the "Germanium Giant"; I built one with a 2SA49 and 1N34As and it sounds great.

Great job @disssa . l2ooks like a very challenging project to take on. I have also got into having pcbs made and fully understand the challenge and effort that goes into designing a PCB. That is a very well designed and layed out board. Did you convert the schematic from all tube to IC / transistor?

The IVP is a SS-Preamp. The tuby sound is achieved by a very good circuit and by overdriving a transformer.

Agreed. Ive only used mine with a passive bass at this point, but it hasn't distorted on me at all

Reading that this is a recreation of the original preamp and NOT an emulation have you ever tried running it to a say a rack mount power amp. Maybe a 900 - 1000w. I bet that would sound awesome.

yes i have and it sound just like the coliseum head:

DEFX Switchblade, which is their recreation of the LAL Super Oscillo 88, with expression input. I like it a lot, but I'm a sucker for anything that oscillates. The switches give you a lot of options.
