Frank’s music holds a very dear place in my heart. A true genius. Favorited? Shut Up and Play series and his live discs: those bands he assembled later in his career are just out of this world. I’ll be drinking his galoot colagna for years to come.
Also...let us not forget: 200 Motels with "Lonesome Cowboy Burt"!

I'm not sure what polarizes folks so badly about Frank!
I've got friends who think he was pretentious & no amount of telling them how humble he was gets through to them.
Never got to meet Frank, but I did get to see Dweezil play in Hollyweird in the 90s. I was totally clueless, up until that point, that Dweezil was a virtuoso.

If i'm not mistaken. Gibson made a reissue for Dweezil. Don't think it's Franks original. Not a 100% sure about that.
This should be a club as the content can go on forever and it all feels so right. We are a unique breed of music enthusiast us Zappa fans, I can never just walk out of my house and just converse with anyone I see about Zappa so when I check into this thread its like coming home, I feel welcome,like I belong, like family. Us Zappa fanatics are a unique brand of musical enthusiast. We are in fact the minority and I wouldnt want it any other way.

Huge fan but can't really play all songs because many songs are tricky to get right!
Love the NewYork Live, Apostrophe, Hots rats, Grand Wazoo, Them or us... so many awesome bass riffs.

I only ever wanted a SG (if I was going to buy a Gibson or Epiphone), because of Frank, Tony Iommi, Angus Young.
The LP - Lester Polsfuss (& singles cuts in general) don't do it for me.
In a strange turn on CL yesterday I bought a SG, but can't play it for long, wears my arm out & my neck, LOL!
It's not heavy at 7 lbs, 6 oz., but the neck extends 3" farther than my LTD guitar, & an inch farther than either of my basses.
Probably going to sell it come Spring
I wonder if a short scale SG or EB would would be groovy for you, groovy for anyone but for you it might just work if you dig that kind of thing. I remember reading (years ago, pre-internet) that that brown SG with the extra toggle switches, as seen on the cover of Roxy & Elsewhere wasn't a real Gibson SG, but was some one-off clone built by a (at least then) unknown luthier. Not sure if he used the neck from a real Gibson or just forged the headstock logo. And I have no idea how true that story is.
In either case I'm pretty sure the extra toggle switches are part of some after-market custom electronics built by Rex Bogue, the same guy who built John McLaughlin's "Double Rainbow" guitar and customized some of Alphonso Johnson's basses.
