my first zappa listen was hot rats, which i bought in 1971 because the cover appealed to me. i fell in love with it, and liked willie the pimp so much that i bought trout mask replica. my zappa faves are absolutely free and we're only in it for the money.
Was at all six of these shows at The Palladium '77, i'll stop now.
I knew Warren Cuccurullo before he joined Zappa! He was my cousin's first boyfriend back in Canarsie (Brooklyn)... Warren was the inspiration for Joe's Garage!
My smile is stuck I cannot go back to your frownland. One of my all time favorite lines.

Definitely a Zappa fan....Lots of material out there. Have you checked out the trilogy of Broadway the hard way, Make a Jazz Noise Here, and The Best Band you never heard in your life? Solid all the way!

The guy was a genius, no doubt about it. Amazing music.

So jealous. Seeing Punky's Whips live would have been another stop in my First Stop in your Time Machine thread. I've nearly worn out my DVD of Baby Snakes.
Love Frank. Also, a lot of people don't know he was one of the originals to popularize playing the bicycle.
Frank and Steve seem to be having a lot of fun with this one. I know i said i would stop, but can't.

That's cool. Different strokes for different folks.
Absolutely love and respect Mr. Zappa and his work. Not all of his discography is my cup of tea, but IMO he is (was?) the absolute best wah pedal "master" I have ever heard in all my life (and I'm old!), bar none. Really. And I think he was a genius arranger.
