The terrain is pretty gnarly here, lots of short steep ups and downs, rocks, roots etc. so the 6"x6" AM bike with a dropper post makes sense. It can really do it all too. It goes up things better than a 32lb bike with a 66.5 degree HA and 160mm of squish should and it's a joy on descents. It's actually a more capable descender than my old Uzzi VPX which was a 7.5" freeride bike. Oh, and it's a lot dirtier now than it was when those pics were take! :D

Very nice guys! It makes me glad to see talkbasser's riding.

datsgor...nice rides!!! Loving the yellow bike you got there. Is that a 29er?

.

No, it's a 26er. A Santa Cruz Blur LT, I just put some 185mm rotors on it and wow, what a difference! Downhill contol is much better, smoother it seems. great upgrade IMO. Here is a better picture inspired by an above post.

This is gorgeous! I used to ride trails like this in Santa Rosa, CA at a place called Annadale State Park. One can ride an hour through Redwood forest and meadows to Lake Ilsanjo. I'd ride up and take a swim in the lake and head back down.

I miss it everyday. :bawl:

Wow, beautiful country!

I'm about as far from Santa Rosa as you can get in North America. Replace "redwood forest and meadows" for "scrub spruce and bogs" and lovely CA weather for wind, rain and fog. :D

The obligatory "bike in front of white garage door" pic! :D

The latest version of the Blur LT and my Tracer 2 are quite similar to each other. VPP FTW!

I used to be semi-pro xc racer about 10 years ago.

Still have one bike but now I'm just a weekend warrior.

It's probably ancient technology now compared to what's out there these days.

XC race bike is a custom built cannondale caad4 hardtail frame with all xtr and easton cf parts with the new high tech (at the time lol) mavic tubeless tire/disc brake system. Still my main ride. =D I was proud to have it weighed in at like 22lbs or something.

I go out to Tsali once or twice a year. It's lovely up there.

Man...you guys got some awesome rides and awesome places to ride!!!

That rocky terrain looks a lot like this place where I ride except it is all 3" to 36" boulders for about a 2km. It is challenging uphill but awesome once you reach the top. My friend who has been riding for 2 years said that I was the first guy to see ride up it. It boosted my self-esteem and has pushed me to try harder stuff. Even though I love the down hills, up hills are my strength. I also suck at 20+ mile flat rides while my friend onthe other hand loves them.

Anyone recommend me a 29er ride? I am considering a FS bike too but give me your opinions. I am 6'4 195lbs and more of a all mountain rider. I will also be sure to take my camera with me on my next ride after I come back from my vacation.

Well thank you. I don't live there anymore but do go back every year. It looks like you've got some pretty tasty coastal riding too where you're at.

Ran into this website last night at work. His shop is just a 20 minute drive up the highway from my house. I was perfectly happy with my Litespeed for the last decade or so, but now I have a "jones"....:crying:

"Just" $2375 for the Titanium Mountain Bike frame and another +/- $2000 for a grouppo, fork and wheel-set of matching quality...yeah, I'l just take it out of petty cash!;)

I know, I'l order a matching set: a road bike and a new MTB hardtail!

Titanium , BB30 , Speedhub & Lefty compatible :hyper:

Next year , if my credit card wants to .
(and if I'm still single ! )

I just started riding again after many years off. built up my own bike... a Singular Swift (Invalid Link Removed). made it a 29'er, rigid, single speed, with dirt-drops. I'm loving it! the bike handles great. don't miss the front suspension yet, but we'll see once I make some trips out to Big Bend or other rugged places. i'll take some pics this weekend.

I love me some trail riding! Been riding for a few years and love it, although with school, bass, and football I haven't really gone in a couple of weeks, but I love riding up to Ellwood by my town. I've been riding a Mongoose Canaan Elite for a while now. Pretty much stock with the exception of the saddle, pedals, and some other stuff...oh and bottle holder, if that even matters. (new bottle holder not pictured, sorry bottle holder enthusiasts!)
