It may please you to know then that this thread has piqued my interest in you as Ive never even heard of your company and Im liking both what Im seeing and reading.........

well, whoever was selling the older Dillion basses years ago "sold me" I bought one and said if I ever see anymore I will snatch them up so I ended up with 3 of them.

Finally got it.
Have to say its not a bad bass but its not a great bass either.
Has great weight to it, very balanced with a strap.
Pickups are better than i thought they would be.
Neck is a little more than a jazz yet not a precision. Very nice.
Side markers are cheap plastic material.
Tuners are not desireable, very glitchy.
Looks great.
Nut needs filing and it needs fret work badly.
Overhang and some uneven frets.
Hums alot when pickups at 50-50 and goes away as you reach 60-40.
So either im going to get a fret job or just try to resell it.
Too bad, looks cool.
If you want something different but still with a classic look maybe you should buy one of these.

I bought it for a girl I know who wanted to learn bass but it was too big for her and I returned it a week later because I already had 3 basses at the time. I paid $279 for it but it just isn't a hot item and it's still sitting there.
I saw one shop asking still asking for $499 for one. Very nice Hot-J pickups...when I first plugged it in I thought it was active. If I ever go back to that GC I don't think I'll be able to walk out without buying it.

Since our name is mentioned here, I feel compelled to answer it without breaking any TalkBass posting rules.
Also there is no John Dillion. The person with that name does not exist. There is a certain John (with a different last name), who was a former Dillion Canada US sales man that decided to do his own business under the same, already recognized, brand name. But I do not want to go more in to that story, because it was debated already many times in many other on line forums.

Mine was a 5string. Like I said in that old post, it was very well put together except for the cheap pickup which was replaced before I sold it. I didn't like the neck compared to my 5string Charvels .
I returned it! I tried it out in a few amps and it was not for me. Too dull, like a bad P bass. I like more detail in a bass I can slap.

My number 1 bass is a Dillion VMB-500. I bought it used about a year ago, and have since upgraded most of its (not so) weak points. It came to me mostly stock, the wiring was changed, the pickup was still stock. There were warts, mostly minor cosmetic things that only showed when you looked real close, but the TOAN!!! Who cares how it looks!?
I made a custom 3EQ preamp, put in options for Series; Parallel / Single coil north / Single coil south; Passive / Active. The nut has been replaced with a Bone one, the frets levelled and dressed, new string retainer. Installed a Nordstrand custom pickup (thanks for all your help Adrian!! Order from them, great service and product!). And had the body shaved for an arm contour.
I'm so happy with the results, I sold my ErnieBall MusicMan Stingray, and haven't regretted it for a second.

I had a Dillion acoustic guitar for a hot minute & it had all the features I wanted, a cutout for upper fret access, and it's a fully passive electric/acoustic.
It was junk, after changing strings it went all wonky & I couldn't get the action right, sold it.
Last time I saw it, at the pawn shop, you could have fit a pencil under the strings at the 12th fret.

I just found one, too! It will arrive this week. It pulled at my heartstrings, like my ES-335 TDC that I played back in the 60's. It is supposed to have a "gig bag" [ ? ]

The gig bag is pretty good, and there should be some "bag candy" as well. If you can handle the weight (and I cannot) it could be a great bass. For a hardshell case, you may have to go to a case like Dean uses for their big ABGs, or a case for one of Gibson's big-bottomed girls, if you can find such a case.
