The TC Electronic RH heads had great compressors and tuners. I still love mine very much. The BH heads are pretty good also.

I'm really old.

I have the Bronco 40, which is the earlier and less powerful version of this. Was easy to use. Yes, I'm old.

Yeah, I thought about that but was trying to stick with the OP’s apparent intention to limit as many devices as possible. A clip-on tuner is super simple to throw in a gig bag but is still technically one more thing to bring on a gig all the same.

I think even a gear minimalist can manage a clip on tuner.

Doesn't meet the original post, but Trace Elliot Transit B has compression, EQ, and tuner in one very simple pedal (no pedal board needed).

My amp has a built in compressor and a tuner out and mute, so I don't see the issue with it not being onboard the amp as I have a Planet Waves tuner pedal that I can either run in series with the bass cable or out the tuner out. Clip ons are good for some, but some of my basses have no headstock.

One challenge to including a tuner and compressor on an amp come down to player preferences.

Players like or dislike specific tuners based on how they work for their needs. Some tuners work better on one type of bass versus another, and some do not track round wound strings very well (due to a higher proportion of harmonics). The ability to lock onto low frequency notes with a significant harmonics envelope can be a trade off to the speed of note discrimination.

Compressors are an even more fickle feature to include. A type of comp that one player favors may be despised by another player. This is why there are so many different options in compressors (look at the number of different comp pedals on the market), many different player preferences.

I was thinking today that it would be nice to have an amp that has a built-in tuner and compressor. Then I could use that as a all-in-one to take to gigs or practice at home, same rig. I could just take that and use the DI if it's a IEM gig or bring along a cab or two if needed. Completely ditch the pedalboard, all I would need is bass, amp and maybe a cab or two. I think only the Bergantino B|AMP checks the boxes. Are there any others? I guess a Helix and powered cab would do the same thing. Sub out the Helix with Quad Cortex's unobtanium and I'm sure there are other modelers.

I use the TC electronic BH 800 for this reason. Built in tuner and 2 tone prints that can be used for compression or whatevah.

I know these aren’t considered high end, but the one I’ve been using sounds great, has a nice di and has been very reliable.

BAmp is a beautiful thing. Menus easy to deal with. Not.to vomit the manual at you..but, compressor , drives, presets, lpf, hpf, tuner. 4 parametric filter points with Q adustment, Really cool notch filter to tame that one note the resonates and who knows what new features can be uploaded soon. Bt foot pedal to flip presets. Does not sound digital.

I love the idea of an onboard tuner and HPF. To me compressors are too subjective to really be good as an onboard effect - just my opinion though. Additionally, every onboard compressor I've ever had on an amp has left me wanting more and I've ended up just using a pedal.

I was about halfway through the first page and had similar thoughts. I was about to type a similar post and stopped to think "I wonder if @agedhorse has chimed in yet". My ego is fed on those rare occasions when I think like you do on a topic.

But seriously, the compressor especially would be a roll of the dice AT BEST for an amp company to try to incorporate into a head. What's the "best" kind to "most" players? One knob? Two knob? Blend? Parameters? The moment that head gets released this whole crowd would be gathering pitchforks and torches.

Find the built in compressor you prefer and you can't go wrong with the clip on tuner from the tcelectronic unitune. I have been using clip on tuners since the beginning and I have found this one to be exceptional.

The Blackstar Unity Elite 700 has a built in compressor (which I like, but as other have noted, YMMV), and chorus, octave, overdrive, distortion, and fuzz effects that you run by way of the included 2 channel footswitch (you choose one of OD/Fuzz/Distortion for A and one of Chorus/Octave for B). If you buy the ~$100 accessory footswitch (I haven't yet), I'm pretty sure it has a tuner and allows you to access all the effects, vs. choosing two for the stock footswitch to run.

So, not all included in the head itself, but all included in the carry case for the head...
