Double Bass Any Recommendations?

Can somebody offer a suggestion? I play an equal combination of small jazz gigs and loud rock type gigs. Both scenarios I use my upright - the rock gig is more of a loud country/folk/bluegrass thing. Anyway - I need a rig that is great for both occasions. I need it to be easily portable and small enough that it doesn't intimidate the patrons in a cafe/jazz club setting and also have the ability to roll into the dive bar setting and give me enough juice to hang with the volume necessary to compete with some rock and roll. I know its somewhat of a tall order but I thought I'd ask - I've got about $1500 to spend.

Markbass Mini CMD 121P. It's 1x12 combo, just a little bigger and heavier than GK MB150. It's the biggest sounding small combo I've ever heard.
The sound is very natural, if you were playing ONLY small jazz setting I would say it's overkill. In given situation this could be the solution.
This combo sounds very good with any pick-up, from BP-100 (onboard filters do miracles with this PU), to Realist or even Dyn B, despite the fact, that it only has 500kOhm input. Well, sometimes it's better to listen, than to read...

Agreed. That is a great little combo that packs a serious punch. If you add the New York 1x12" extension cabinet to it you will have a DB rig that can handle pretty well any situation.

Personally I never cared for Markbass for acoustic bass for quiet things but could see the appeal for needing something loud and portable...anyway, I like Aguilar for this situation I use an AG500 and GS2x10, but maybe a 1X12 would be good for the jazz stuff, and then if you could get a second 12 and use both for the louder stuff...that might be work well. Their stuff is kind of heavy, definitely not in the same zone as the GKMB150 or markbass but for me the sound is worth it. If you look for used gear it may be in your price range, though if you buy new it would be a little more than 1500
