Any Wisconsin Bassists out there??

I never even thought to look up a WI Bass club.. Anyway, I am from Kenosha in the very SE Corner of WI! My band is Cosmic Railroad ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]). We tour 8 states semi-regularly. We play festivals in the summer and our own gigs in the winter. The music stores around here are terrible. Music Center does not have one person who knows what they are talking about and I am not really a fan of Music Go Round. I do most of my shopping on the net.

We are having a get together on 6/27 at the Madison Music Foundry. Come by if you can make it and bring at least one piece of gear that you'd like to share w/ your fellow bass players. Do a search and you'll find the thread giving details.

I'm up in Menasha, there's just no way I can get back up here from Mad Town, pick up my PA, singer, and sound crew, S.S.S., AND drive another 40 minutes to the venue.

There's always next year I guess.

Hello again guys. Since my last post in this thread, my band HEDDA launched our website, we launched our MySpace page and released the digital version of our EP, "The Calm Before..." The hard-copy of the disc will be in our hands in a few weeks.

Anyway, if you would, please pay our MySpace or the HEDDA site a visit, listen to a track or two (Samples on our site, full songs on MySpace, Download full songs on our site) and let me know what you think.
I know it sounds trite, but please pass the word along if you like it, we can use all the support we can get - this has been like a second full-time job for the last year and we begin rehearsal for the next recording sessions in a week!

Greenfield (suburb of Milwaukee) here :)

I play bass for LightsCameraAction!

I take lessons at the Music Go Round here, so most of my stuff comes from MGR.

Also, I like Cascio a lot and a couple of my friends dads work at (?)/frequent Uncle Bobs. Cream City was cool, loved the Gretch (sp?) store attached to it, haha.

Hey, I checked out your MySpace and video. Different style from ours but very cool. You aren't influenced by Lincoln Park at all are ya? :)

I'm listening to HEDDA as I type this. I like it a lot. I like the Killswitch Engage-like guitar harmony in the beginning of "Never Yield." Your singer reminds me of Ronnie James Dio in a way. How do you find the reaction in the music scene to be towards your style? It seems everything is either sticky power-pop or "br00tal" metal.

And yes, I personally am influenced by Linkin Park :)

The reaction to our stuff is yet to be determined...we need more reactions! :)

The style is similar to the stuff that is very popular in Europe, Japan, Canada (to some degree) and Brazil, so we hope that our influences and our twist will appeal to listeners in those particular areas. We'd like to get some positive feedback from American listeners, but our style is played little to none on American radio, so it is quite difficult to get our name out there.
One of our chief influences is a Power Metal band called KAMELOT (Check them out - "The Black Halo" is a great album). anyway, KAMELOT is a band from Florida (singer from Norway) with 8 albums to their credit. They have sold A LOT of albums and their live shows sell-out in the aforementioned countries, but they are almost unheard of in the U.S.. They did their very first tour of the U.S. last fall. It's unfortunate for them AND for the audiences that are missing KAMELOT's music.

Thanks for the kind words, and any DIO comparisons are very welcome. I personally hear a blend between Bruce Dickinson of IRON MAIDEN and Steve Perry of JOURNEY, which is not so odd, as John (HEDDA's lead singer) sites both as big influences.

HEDDA's EP, "The Calm Before..." is out for replication. It would be great to hear from som local guys about what you think of our stuff.

We begin rehearsals for the rest of the full length album next week. Busy - busy!

Check us out on MySpace. John Wetton joined as a HEDDA friend which I think is really cool!!! Of course IRON MAIDEN made me giddy! :)

I live a few blocks from the Capitol Brewery in Middleton. My main gig is Cool Front. We play blues, rock, soul, funk and stuff. I'm usually disappointed with the big stores and try to find time to check out the funkier ones on Atwood. I saw a vintage jazz in The Guitar Shop last time I was in. Pricey though.
