Actually my issues seem to be resolved. I updated to 52.7.4esr but I don't know for sure that had anything to do with it. Mostly it was probably rebooting Windows after some Win7 updates some weeks ago. Hard to know where exactly the problem was, other than zapping processes in task manager.
I know it didn't happen under standard Android/Firefox on my Asus pad for a few weeks while my laptop was in the shop being rebuilt after a display failure.
Again, I suspect routinely logging in to TB helps reduce add traffic.
