i have an sg400 that i rewired to passive after the board got wet...i will always love that neck

Anybody play Ibanez

I have an Ibanez SB900 that has the sweetest neck, although it rarely sees any playing time anymore.
I've been using an ATK305 for the past 6 months or so and I am definitely liking it as well. Lots of different sound possibilities and a very solid feeling bass for not a lot of moolah!
I dislike, pencil necks, so Soundgears were never an option. I kind of like the atks, but I need a neck or mid pickup, I liked some of the older designs, but they weren't available anymore. Then I discovered the first generation Artcore basses...
Nice wide (p-bass width), very stable three piece necks, great asthetics and price! Hampered by an only "ok" pickup that didn't fit the vintage asthetic, but that was easily rectified with a Jack Cassady pup/elec transplant. Behold, my Ibanez:

Horses for courses, I suppose - I have a smaller hand, so I liked the Roadstar II I had from the neck point of view:
It was 'way to bright for me, but a lovely piece to play. I used it for a while tuned & strung BEAD.
Now I'm trying this RD605 (nearest in the US is the RD900/905 except this has a mahogany, not basswood, body). Again, it's terrific, but my small hands are having problems with the stretch across the fretboard.
I also have a 1979 Ibanez Studio ST-105. Terrific guitar - much underrated.

I bought this new in 1999? from Daddy's Music. The flyer I received was that only 65 were built. It has a figured Ovangkol top over a Mahogany back/ 35" scale/5 string. It is a great looking/sounding bass!! I would take pictures, but camera not working.Never heard of that model, do you have pics or an explanation?
Just last week i had the pleasure- i thought- of playing a real nice fender p vintage through a trace elliott stack and head Wow - so i plugged in my SRX390 thinking it is was not going to be in the game with this rig- boy was i wrong - my ibby sounded just as good and i love my neck even better..... very underrated bass;s in my opinion really love the trace stuff though
I play Ibanez Jem guitars, and I'm a moderator on Jemsite.com, but I don't play Ibanez basses. I would grab an old 4001 copy in a heartbeat though if I could find one

I didn't like the neck. It would "fret out" everytime I looked over my shoulder at the drummer, from the slightest pull back on the neck.

I own several - an Ergodyne 555 w/ ash body and wenge/bubinga laminate neck, a "lawsuit" '78 Silver Series Jazz bass, and a '90 EX series (a very underrated bass for metal).
PLUS... I hear that these American Eagle basses and guitars are coming out of the Ibanez factory, and they're darned cheap and darned good too, quite possibly on a par with SX instruments...

I have been rather flighty with basses the last couple of years (which was sort of atypical for me, since I had played my first bass exclusively for 8 years and my second bass exclusively for 6 years).
Btw, that Spector Euro has become the first bass in over a year (since the ATK) that clicked with me both in terms of tone and feel, so that's what I'm recording with now. Has that Steinberger-like EMG grind but I think it sounds a bit more snarly and "in your face" than my Steinberger XQ's did. It's a rude little beotch, in a good way.
I still think the ATK is a fine bass in its own right, though, and it's hard to argue with the bang-for-buck it offers.
Walked into a local nightclub several years ago, noticed that the band was doing a fine job and the bass sounded excellent.
Stepped closer to the stage, dude was playing a Soundgear. It just sounded great in that room!
I just recently acquired my first Ibanez, a GWB35... after test driving a dozen or so fretlii over the years, it is the first one that I really connected with (except for the tight string spacing
