Anybody using Alto Truesonic Powered Mains?

Sound was AWESOME both nights per the punters and venue management.. Thus, the 4 different brands of non-matched speakers did not seem to matter.. tho' we did test it first!
One thing I can say about the Alto Pro Black 12".. that's the heaviest 12" mother I've ever carted around. The up side is that we barely pushed it, it was plenty loud and balanced with the sub.
After testing/balancing it at home the night before the gig, I set the DSP to "flat".
Was very impressed with it's performance, and the QSC 15" sub worked very well in the venue.
BL asked me "Are you sure that's a 15"?"... :)

Based in part on reviews in this thread and others on the forum, I've started amassing a small family of Alto speakers: two TS212 currently used as mains and a brand new TS310 used as a monitor. Eventually I'd like to add another TS310 to have two matched pairs that can be used either as mains or monitors depending on the gig. I'm also interested in the new TS312S subwoofer but availability still seems spotty here in the US.

I used this setup, along with a Behringer XR18 mixer, to good effect this weekend at a small outdoor community event. Volume levels were low since music wasn't the main draw, but I was impressed with the clarity for all three acts (solo acoustic singer/songwriter, acoustic trio, and my own rock trio). PA was used just for vocals and acoustic guitars, while backline amps carried bass and electric guitar.

I was torn between the TS310 and TX210 for monitor duties. I really liked the size and weight of the TX210 but eventually decided on the TS310 since it has the power to be used as a main if needed. The price difference is small enough ($170 vs $250 at most places) and easy to justify when buying one at a time. The TS310s are fairly compact, although I was surprised that they're about as heavy as the TS212 (must be the more powerful amp in the new generation).

I've had the TS212 speakers for more than a year and they're holding up just fine. I've only used them as mains on a few gigs but they're used weekly as monitors during rehearsals. For most of that time I was (perhaps naively) running my bass direct through them. As far as I can tell that didn't cause any damage to the speakers, although I recently realized they don't have quite enough low end for me to go ampless (I'm sure it'd be a different story with a subwoofer). Once I removed the bass these speakers really started to shine. Admittedly I don't have a lot of experience but I'm definitely pleased with the Alto speakers and the whole digital mixer-based PA system.

Nice to see an old thread revived. I have 6 Alto TS112. For smaller venues I use two as mains and the rest, given enough space, as monitors. Or I use four as mains and two as monitors and if the rest of the band that needs a monitor they can bring their own or make do. Anyway, I've had them for about 5 years and they're holding up great to monthly/bimonthly restaurant/bar gigs. Do they sound as good as QSC? No but they sound really good on their own for about a fifth of the price of QSC.

I think they are on par with low end EV, and JBL. I have 6 or 7 TS312's that I have for when I need more wedges than the 5 QSC k12.2 I use every day. For the price I highly recommend them. Here's a decent testimonial for them- When I have a bunch of matched monitors, I usually EQ one of them, the copy and paste as many times as needed. A couple weeks ago I was using 5 QSC, and 3 Alto. I EQ'ed the first QSC, and copied it 8 times. They ALL sounded darn good! Feedback suppression did the rest.

Nice. My entire PA is all Alto. 2-TS312's(Mains), 2 TS212's(Typically Monitors), 2-TX210's(Typically Monitors), 1-TSsub115(Sub) fed by either a Mackie 1402VLZ or a Peavey 16ch mixer. Did a small/short gig this past weekend where I used the TX210's as mains and 1 TS212 as a monitor

Sorry, I know I'm repeating myself here..........carry on...

for those of you who have experience with the Alto TS line and other competitive products like entry level EV and JBL (@Paulabass )
... what makes the difference between the very attractively priced Alto TS gear and something higher end like EV EKX/ETX, or QSC Kn.2's and the like. When I look at specs, other than avg power/peak or RMS power, I don't see a ton of difference, but as I more or less believe in the maxim of "you get what you pay for" ... it makes me wonder what is missing from $299 2way 12's vs $799 2way 12's.

Definitely this ^^ ...
...and better overload protection, more efficient drivers and better materials, such as a nice engineering grade glass-filled polycarbonate vs. a general purpose ABS or Polypropylene for the enclosure...

I took me a few months longer than anticipated, but I finally got an Alto TS312S subwoofer. I obviously won't have a chance to try it in a live music situation until things open up post Covid, but so far I'm pretty happy with how it sounds at relatively low volumes using matching TS310 tops.

This brings my collection of Alto speakers to a pair of TS212 speakers, a pair of TS310 tops, and the TS312S subwoofer, along with a Behringer XR18 digital mixer. (The TS212s are currently quarantined at my band's rehearsal space, so I haven't had a chance to try them all together.)

At this point I've pretty much assembled my ideal budget PA system. I know it's not bulletproof, high-end stuff, but it's versatile, relatively portable, and certainly more than adequate for my little garage band.

I’ve been eyeing this guy up myself for my classic rock band and the PA I’m putting together.

Do you think the TS312s will fill out the bottom end well enough for kick and bass? We’re not overly loud and we don’t need punch-you-in-the-gut kick and bass, just fullness and something that doesn’t take a crane to move.

My setup is a pair of TS215s for mains and a pair of tx208s for monitors, all of which I amassed used from GC by trading a used Bugera Veyron BV1001T amp and about $150 cash.

I’m debating the small Alto vs more expensive offerings from RCF, EV, Yamaha etc. I’d like to not spend that much $ though.

I haven't been able to use the sub at full volume, so I can't say how it'll perform in a real-world gig scenario. It does, however, give a lot of extra oomph to my work-at-home audio setup!

I suppose it's all about expectations and how its going to be used. I went with the 12" sub and 10" tops because my priorities were portability and budget. From what I've read, that combo also seemed to pair nicely (whereas 15" tops might work better with a bigger sub, although I don't have personal experience so take that with a grain o salt.)

My main use cases will probably be backyard parties, small community events where music isn't necessarily the main draw, and maybe the occasional bar gig. I have no doubt this little sub will be able to handle those situations.

Good luck with your decision. Just remember that any sub is likely to be way better than no sub!

Well, I bit the bullet and decided to go with the RCF 705-as II. I found one for 30% off, so it was not that much more than the TS-318s.

I can lift and carry it myself for a short distance (it's actually only 51 lbs) and it is holy-loud if I want it to be. It's a really great companion to my TS215 mains. We played through them for an outdoor practice last night, and our band sounded the best we ever had IMO. TS215's sound great with the HPF engaged from the sub, so much more present than without. :hyper:

I get to gig this setup this weekend, so we'll see how it carries. :bassist:

As an aside, I went ampless through this setup with a VTBass-DI throughout the practice, and I thought it did a pretty good SVT impersonation, with the mixer HPF set on my channel at about 55 Hz (-24 dBu).

Sounds like you got a great deal on an awesome sub. 51 lbs for a 15 incher is impressive. It also looks like the cabinet is a bit smaller than the Alto 12", so wow.

Definitely let us know how it goes with the gig. I still haven't been able to use my system outside the house. Hopefully soon!
