The answer here at TB might be "few", but not "none". Out in the real world where players are less focused on gear, there are plenty of working pros who choose inexpensive gear even if they can afford better. Just one example: a working pro I know likes his MIM J-bass better than his '62 J-bass. He said "Don't tell anyone I said this. My bandmates want me to play the '62, but my excuse is that I don't want to bring it to nightclubs. They wouldn't believe me if I told them the truth."

Best realize that those that don't cotton to yer way of thinkin' ain't necessarily a troll, pilgrim.
And I'm sure, through sheer coincidence, that the bass that will suit you best will carry a $4,000+ price tag.

If I could pick any bass off the GC shelf (at the GC in my area, at least) it would be an American Standard P Bass or a 5 string Ibanez soundgear.
lol. They can afford it. People would just rather not pay for the US worker's living wage and health care.

My firsthand experience with Squier in the 90s has left a lasting bad taste in my mouth. Squiers are made with the absolute lowest quality of wood and metal and labor, so Fender can still make a profit on them after shipping them over the ocean. I will never, never spend money on a cheap import bass ever again. Quality is worth it.
