Anyone else here who cant play "Guitar" AT ALL?

I started out on guitar, which evolved into slide guitar and Dobro, and I picked up bass by playing in bands that had a bass player who liked to play guitar on some songs.

Now I play bass full time, but when I play in environments other than my band I play Dobro or harmonica. Haven't played a conventional guitar for mumblety-'leben years.

I try to play guitar about once a year but I just cant wrap my head around it. Strumming? Tiny strings?

Not for me. Wish I could play though.

Guitar is just too small and fiddly for me. I can't play anything on it, really.

I find it difficult to do pretty much anything but play power chords on guitar.

As some people put it, I play guitar like a bassist and it shows.

I play basslines an octave up on my friend's acoustic lol. I tried learning some chords, but just never cared enough to really remember them.

You know, this thread isn't helping the whole "failed guitarist" stereotype.

I'm a pretty good rhythm guitarist, mostly because my guitar teacher in high school was a good rhythm guitarist and a kickass drummer. I'm kind of a sucky lead player because my teacher didn't play lead, so pretty much everything I learned in that respect I had to teach myself, picking out Clapton and Harrison solos by ear, etc.

I have a few guitars, but ever since I wall mounted my basses I play them much more than the acoustic in the lounge room. I was over at my guitarist's place testing out some new pedals, and I realised I couldn't play guitar to save myself anymore. I had mini-GAS for one of those Squier Telecasters in Butterscotch, so I picked one up to leave that by my rig so when temptation strikes I can plug it in.

They _are_ handy for songwriting. I can lay down some bass to a click, chuck some suggested guitar riffs over the top and email that to my buddy. What he sends back will be 1,000 times better, but the germ of my idea is usually still there

I can't play at all but I do have an awesome 1/2 size spanish guitar that cost £20!

I have tried playing my brother's guitars before but I'm really quite shocking. I'll stick with bass, it feels much better!

I've bounced back and forth between bass and guitar a few times. I really think I was meant to play bass, however. It just comes much more naturally for me. I enjoy it a lot more too. I just think more like a bass player. I can play most rock/metal on guitar but that's about it. A couple of years ago I decided to focus strictly on bass and have barely picked up a guitar since!

I started on geetar. I have a few nice 80's pointy ones and a nice Telecaster. My son has adopted all my geetars except the Tele and an OLD Japanese BC Rich. They are two that I would never part with. I only play them once in while these days.

I can play beach guitar. You know, 3-4 chords while singing. that's about it.
I suck at pretty much everything else guitar which isn't really a problem since it bores me to death anyway.

Started guitar after high school and a long trumpet career. Soon my mates who were better guitar players talked me into trying bass. Been dwelling in the bassment ever since. I know some chords but have never really gotten to the point of changing the fingerings fast enough to be any good.

I got fired today from my band as a lead guitarist... well, I quit, but he told me "we have to let you go" before I could quit.

I guess they found out I was a bass player, and not a lead guitarist! HA!

I'm a decent guitar player. I think I could be pretty good if I made it my primary instrument. I started out on piano, so I have a solid knowledge of chords and I like songwriting on those two (piano and guitar) when I'm in a rut trying to write on bass.

I can only play a tiny bit of guitar. Only to help with songwriting really. Never wanted to play guitar and still don't. And lets face it......the crowd isn't dancing to the guitar now is it?

This is random but a guitarist in my old band taught me to play '' For the Love of God'' by Steve Vai, well the first minute. It is the only thing i can play on guitar period

Horrible on guitar (and bass). I can pull off some pretty good licks or a mini-solo but that's about it.

Ham hands with sausage fingers and little strings with close frets don't mix.
