Love a '70s style cushion case like that. They do stand out in a unique way, I think.
When I lived in Moscow I got this exact watch but not in rose gold - and brand new it cost a LOT less than what this used one is going for...

Back in 1986 a great uncle of mine had died and my aunt gave me one of his watches. A 1963 solid gold Patek. I've been addicted to watches ever since. Pretty nice when you can start at the top.
I like mechanical watches and have a couple, but I also work with a variety of equipment and dropping a mechanical watch four feet onto a concrete floor is not a good thing. The nice watches pretty much all stay at home in a drawer and I wear a plain stainless steel Seiko solar.
That's the reason I chose it. Not found an automatic with quite the same sophistication... Yet!That's a tidy pieceRazor sharp minimalist design.
Check out the Artelier series from Oris. Many of the limited edition Jazz models that are no longer made may float your boat, too, found on the used market.

Eventually my collection morphed from mainly vintage to modern and also enjoying a decidedly more mid tier focus, preferring Tudor [for many reasons] vs Rolex or Patek. I learned early on Patek was way out of my league and Rolex has done the same over the last several years.So, where do you go from there?
But what I really enjoy is modding Seiko automatic divers. It's become addicting. Currently waiting on a case to be delivered to complete a build. The relative minimal cost to customize to your own specs really makes you rethink the investment in Swiss watches.
It's another addiction that occasionally gets culled to pay for basses [or amps] and visa versa.

This sounds intriguing to me, the modding. Do you have a tip on where a complete noob like me should start?
Could you ballpark the 'relative minimal cost' please, realizing that is probably a wide open range depending on how many mods a person wants to do? I'm curious if this is something I can get into.

The cost are only limited by your imagination and wallet. But I can build [purchase case, Seiko automatic movement w/ hacking and winding capabilities], dial, handset, chapter ring, bezel, bezel insert, crystal, stem & crown] for about $400.00. For that you get a completely customized & personalized automatic dive watch [assuming you take care w/ proper installation of gaskets] w/ many upgrades [ceramic or sapphire lumed bezels, sapphire crystals, etc].
You can reduce the cost by buying a preloved Seiko SKX or SRP [Turtle] and doing minimal mod upgrades like handset and/ or bezel replacement vs entire builds.
I'm no watchmaker, more of a Macgyver approach. I purchased some watch tools but also use tools inherited from my dad [that have nothing to do w/ watches] and have been able to practice on some non working watches. It doesn't always work but most times it does, and it's a blast.
Best place to start is do a youtube search. And do a Seiko mod google search for companies like Crystaltimes and Namoki. Long Island Watches even sells practice watches.
