It's a non-hacking movement though, so the only way to stop it from sweeping is to let the power reserve run down.

The Vostok arrived from Moscow. It's not bad for a £50 automatic, so far... the movement is smooth and it's built solidly, lume is weak but I'm not fussy about that. Apparently they take a few weeks to settle down timing wise, but we'll see.
The only thing I'm regretting slightly is the pale blue dial, which I thought looked good in the photos but is a bit weak in real life

I've had an unhealthy obsession with automatic timepieces for over a decade. Including many self modded Seiko divers, amazing values. Here's my latest, a Fortis Square Chronograph.
Just ordered a Seiko SRP775... the flesh is weak.
Somebody wrote somewhere ''seiko diver's are the crack cocaine of automatic watches''. I think somebody has found this out for themselves. You get up in the morning and spend 5 minutes winding them all up or futz about resetting the timepiece du jour?
Lol, this is the truth! I usually keep one in harness at a time and switch them off every few days, I let them run down in between. It only takes a minute to set a new one up for wear. I'm thinking about buying a winder so I can keep two or three of them ready for wear, though.

What am I missing here?, I thought automatic meant it didn't need winding.
Automatic winding only happens when the watch is moving. After a couple of days on the shelf they stop. Then you will be needing to reset the day and date. The alternative is a plug in shaking table to do the winding for you.

I ask because I'm looking at getting an SNK series watch shipped in from the US/Singapore - we don't get these in India. A non-hacking movement will make me rethink the decision seriously, though.
I recently found my grandfather's 1970 Tudor in a box in my parent's attic. It hadn't been worn for 30 years and when I put it on it started ticking!
Yes, you can do that, but it's not really designed to work that way. I don't tend to find myself wanting to hack the second hand, but if it makes a difference to you then you can do it that way.
I try not to fake hack my 7s26-fitted watches. It just doesn't feel like it's good for the movement.
As long as the power reserve is at a minimum [otherwise it won't hack anyway] here's no problem hacking a 7s26. I've been doing it for years and have never had an issue with the movements.

Just like bass guitars I can't help but mod the hell out of these Seiko SKX divers.
