Anyone else totally happy with their basses?

I am totally happy with my basses. And my amp and cabs for that matter. Been a few years now, and I still am very happy and not looking. Sort of surprised... wasn’t sure that was possible!

I still gas for other things though...
- pedals
- zildjian k series cymbals
- gtrs... kiesel holdsworth top of the list right now

Honestly it's kind of a weird feeling. I think I've always looked at my basses and thought if only it was lighter, or punchier or had a different neck profile or was a different color etc. But now after years and years I don't have any complaints.

Now I just need to practice/gig more.

I found the one in the early 90’s. It was the only bass i owned for the ten busiest years of playing. A few years ago i started tinkering with MIM J basses and have several keepers from the dozens i bought, cleaned up and sold. I’ve retired the one to my brothers home studio and play it every time i go there, and use the MIM basses at home and to play out.
Here’s the one, my early 90’s US Jazz Plus, still the best playing and sounding bass i’ve ever owned.

I'm totally happy with my two basses as well. I have a '74 Precision that is pure magic. I also have a USA Geddy Jazz that is as good as the reviews you've read. I never look for basses anymore... of course, if I happen to stumble upon one at a pawn shop or yard sale, that's a different story...

It took me decades to finally accept the harsh reality that owning more basses would not improve my musicianship. I'm in the slow process of consolidating my herd so that I can focus more on my playing and not on my buying.

Oh man...I've always loved the Zildjian Ks, too...have three of them, but want 33!

I was happy with my '63 Gibson EB-2 with flats bought in 1964 and my only bass for many, many years. Happier when I got a Rob Allen MB2 fretless. Even happier when I added a light weight Gibson SG bass with rounds. The Taylor GS mini makes my arthritic hands happier.

Do I want more. Sure. That Lakland HB-30 or new Fender American Jaguar would be a great addition - the short scale that I love and a different sound. But I'm thrilled to have what I've already got.

I was just thinking about this the other day. I used to have GAS for a ton of different basses going all the way back to the early 90's but as of now, in the present, I see maybe 1 or 2 that catch my attention every now and then. I guess I'm content with what I have right now until I see one that I just can't stop thinking about (that I could possibly afford these days). I feel like the instrument industry has become a bit boring to me, if that's even possible. I dunno, at least it is saving me from credit card debt I suppose lol.

I'm very happy. I'm down to 4 from 20+ basses. I wouldn't say that I don't want any other basses, just not bad enough to look for one or pay for one. If I had unlimited funds I'd love to have my Bossa 5 string back and my fretless Stingray, but not nearly bad enough to part with the $$$. I'm GAS free since the first time since I joined TB.

I just have one now. Used to always have 3. I’m good now.

I have a few sentimental lifers. I have a fender parts bass that will forever stay around to be used at gigs. My EBMMs are all lifers. The jury is out on my 4003 still. But I have a few America. Fenders I wanna add, some rosewood board ebmms and a few amp set ups. Buy I'm in no particular hurry for a change. I'm very content with my current selection. Just not done buying just yet

I’ve got four electric basses but one’s on long term loan to a producer chum (my Frankenjazz) - wonder if I’ll ever get it back... hmmm... So that’s 3 basses in the house and all keepers...

I’ve had these two since about 1993 and 2001 respectively. Both wonderful basses and my “Number 1” and “Number 1 and a half”! They aren’t going anywhere.

Then there’s my Aria SB700 which was my first ever bass. It was an 18th birthday present from my mum and dad so it has huge sentimental value. It also happens to be an absolutely cracking bass and still gets played on the odd occasions - even in competition against the Wals...
