Anyone else totally happy with their basses?

I have a few , but the only one I consider a keeper is the fender Jbass. I’d part with any of the others (Hofners, SX and Ibanez) no problem.

I am happy with these three, but wouldn't complain much if someone offered to trade a P body for my old Jazz body. After 40 something years, I decided I liked Ps better

For the first time in my life I'm at a point where I don't want to buy any more basses.

It doesn't mean that other basses don't appeal to me - I saw on FB that Carey Nordstrand is doing a small run of Nordy nP4s and I'd love one. And the new Stingray Specials look/sound/feel great. But I won't be getting either because I have everything I need.

Honestly it's kind of a weird feeling. I think I've always looked at my basses and thought if only it was lighter, or punchier or had a different neck profile or was a different color etc. But now after years and years I don't have any complaints.

Now I just need to practice/gig more.

How about you? Where are you at in your journey to find the perfect bass or basses for you?

I'm happy with my L2000, Thundergun and my Dean Exotica acoustic…but I still want another bass or two.

I would say yes and no. A have a fender precision black on black that I intend to keep. My son likes it also. I have two ESP LTD basses. One of them is a older Korean made 5 string which is in perfect condition, the other is a D4 neck through. It was a recent purchase, kind of wish I had not bought it. But it is a easy to play bass balances well, easy to play all night. So my keeper is the Fender

I'm exactly where you are, with an upright I love and six EBGs that I circulate among with great glee. And happy to say that I never paid more than $800 for any of the EBGs (usually more in the $400 range) for excellent Yamaha BBs and Fenders. I'm also happy with my Fender Rumble amps, which have never let me down. I'm not sure I'd even love a boutique bass.

I haven't bought, sold or traded a bass in four years, which is by far the longest stretch of inactivity since I started playing. I'm happy with what I have. I just need to practice more.

You know, on pure principle i wanted a back up bass last year. My main bass has been an American Jazz since 2009. I had the same thought process you did and guess what? I ended up buying a used American 97 Jazz from craigslist for 800. Different tone than my number 1 also. Best decision i made by far.

I have had the same 2 basses for over 20 years. I have never ever thought of any others. Now amps, on the other hand, I could not find anything I wanted to keep until I came upon the Fender Rumble Studio 40

Hmmm I am happy with all of my basses (16) but for me to say no more additions doesn't seem to be up to me, I have 3 more than my wife and I agreed to As I mentioned in another thread, my family knows my passion for the bass guitar being a bass player since the age of 9, and they like to see me happy So I guess as long as there are to be days in which I will be receiving gifts from them, it is sure to be bass related.

I have my Lifer! I have had it for around 10 years now and it’s not going anywhere. My backup keeps changing every so often but my Warwick is my go to every time!

Ive rattled thru dozens of basses over 33 years. Then I ran into an old Warwick Corvette 5 (bubinga/wenge) and I sold everhthing I owned. Now, although I have several Warwicks, I am lucky to own 2 perfect basses. I have yet to see/hear/play any bass that my Warwick Thumbs wont absolutely smoke.

Extremely happy with my main fretted 5. Still trying to sell my fretless 5. The 4 string is my wife’s and she’s plenty satisfied with it. My old fretted 5 is in retirement but it’ll always have a special place in my heart.

Yeah, sort of, i dont feel like my gear is limiting my playing abilities. But still, if I had the money I would go and buy everyhing with 4 strings of reasonable gauge.

Yep! My Two and a Half Music Men! The one in the middle is a PJ body I built (thread) to fit a SR5 neck. The Bongo is my go-to for hi-fi EDM & synth stuff, and the PJ (passive) has become my go-to for rock. The PJ kinda kicked my Sterling out of the main rotation and it's giving me the itch to perhaps mod the Sterling. I want to find a new use for the Sterling because I don't want to sell it.

I've seen basses before I'm looking at the yard in this picture...do you do the yard? It doesn't even look like real grass.
I'm totally happy with my 12 basses but can still find things I have to buy, recently a SUB 5 with what seems to be the ideal neck dimensions for me. It needs a less hot preamp and the frets would Cut You but it's safer by far than most garden tools and those things can be fixed. I never realized that the Stingray style pu sounds like a Precision if you pluck near the neck! and it's still punchy with that sound! and on the 5 there's a place for your thumb.

Yes. I want to mention that, over the years, I have run into musicians that are never happy with their instruments and I often see it as a bad thing. The endless search for a better instrument can really get in the way of one becoming a better musician. It is really important to understand what you want/need, settle on a quality instrument, have it set up properly, and commit to it. Once you have the right tool in your hands, the only thing you want to focus on is mastering it, the best you can.
