As of today.... right now.... the answer is Yes! Yes very happy with my Warwick Streamer CV. I've had her for only about 2 years and it has replaced my Fenders as my number 1. I just wish I had found her sooner. Sadly, my AVRI 62 Jazz sits in her case and will be on the TB Classifieds very soon But the Streamer CV is great bass for me (along with my Aguilar rig...).

I'm just not wired to obsess on new/different basses or guitars, I guess. In all that time I have bought and flipped all of two basses (neither lasted a year, one was my obligatory one Fender bass purchase ever), bought and keep three more (one is for sale), and settled on one nice guitar 20 years ago after sporadically gigging a few beaters before that.

So when my luthier friend offered to give me a bass for barter all I could think of was a slide appliance to replace my '77 Travis Bean fretless that I sold last year. The Bean always sounded amazing, but in all honesty the weight finally wore me down. And I sold it with the intention of staying with 3: a fretless, a fretted one I picked up last year, and an EUB. Only got the fretted one because my luthier friend really wanted me to have a fretted 5 on hand for preamp testing. Even at NAMM, people have to physically put an instrument in my hands or I'll rarely give a second look.

I'm 48, own a custom Skjold I went to Pete's shop to spec out, and a special ordered MM Bongo. I also own an SX P from the wife I'll never let go. So with the limited gigging I'm doing(mostly recording), I have no reason to spend any disposable income on more basses. I'd, personally, rather do other stuff like cycling, etc.

Yep! My Two and a Half Music Men! The one in the middle is a PJ body I built (thread) to fit a SR5 neck. The Bongo is my go-to for hi-fi EDM & synth stuff, and the PJ (passive) has become my go-to for rock. The PJ kinda kicked my Sterling out of the main rotation and it's giving me the itch to perhaps mod the Sterling. I want to find a new use for the Sterling because I don't want to sell it.

I've been happy with 2 basses since 1990: my pair of pre-Gibson Tobias Killer B5's. I've bought and sold many basses since then, but always come back to these two. My latest GAS has been with Roscoe - checking out a couple of LG5's and still not sure if they're keepers or not.

How does that bass sound in a band setting?

Yep...I'm happy with all of them. But I have a self imposed rule (actually my wife "helps" me with this rule) that I only have five basses. I have five hangers in my music room. I only buy basses I love. But at some point, I find a bass I love even more and I have to let one go.

I feel like I'm at that point right now. My Birdsong Cbass (profile picture, though the fretboard is a lot dirtier now!) is pretty much the only bass I want to play, to the point where I am having a hard time justifying a equally high end bass that doesn't get played.

Wouldn't mind a nice backup just in case, but it doesn't need to be as high end.

Unless an occasional "new" Peavey here and there, I'm happy with my US collection, so much to the point of not having had GAS for a year and a half or so.

-2017 Gretsch Thunder Jet - cool x 1000, will never sell it

-2015 Fender American Precision Bass - Perfect utility bass, 8.1 lbs, small-ish neck, killer sound, my go to bass for any situation

-2012 Fender Tony Franklin Fretless - My best sounding bass, strung with Rotosound super light Funkmaster strings for maximum acrobatics

-2010 Fender 50th Anniversary Jazz Bass - Very cool and somewhat rare, do not plan to sell it but it gets less playing time than my other basses.

-2008 Gibson Thunderbird - Looks cool, feels cool, smells cool, sounds thick and gnarly, ain't going anywhere!

For the first time in my life I'm at a point where I don't want to buy any more basses.

It doesn't mean that other basses don't appeal to me - I saw on FB that Carey Nordstrand is doing a small run of Nordy nP4s and I'd love one. And the new Stingray Specials look/sound/feel great. But I won't be getting either because I have everything I need.

Honestly it's kind of a weird feeling. I think I've always looked at my basses and thought if only it was lighter, or punchier or had a different neck profile or was a different color etc. But now after years and years I don't have any complaints.

Now I just need to practice/gig more.

How about you? Where are you at in your journey to find the perfect bass or basses for you?

Yea, the feeling is scary and rewarding at the same time, you begin to ask yourself if you still have the same passion? I still look at these basses as tools or brushes and depending on my point in life changes the painting I want to paint. This in turn makes me want this or trade for that. However there is a time when you enjoy what your painting and are happy looking at if for a while afterwords. I've always tried to maintain a few basses (7) that are drastically different, a few Jazz a few P basses and an active 6 and 5. These basses sometimes get stored in a closet to be released a year later when I need "that brush". It's nice being freed of GAS. Cheers!

Yeah, I've also run out of wall hooks and room in my music room to add more. I have five basses (and am thinking of going to four) but I also have two hooks for guitars.

I feel like I'm at that point right now. My Birdsong Cbass (profile picture, though the fretboard is a lot dirtier now!) is pretty much the only bass I want to play, to the point where I am having a hard time justifying a equally high end bass that doesn't get played.

I love the finish on that fretless. G&L finishes (and basses & guitars for that matter) are underrated in my opinion.

I borrowed a friend's Cirrus years ago and was really surprised at what a great bass it was.
