Anyone ever run outa gas?

I stopped at 30 bass ukes/mini bass guitars because that's all that will fit on my walls. Now the only way i would get another is to get rid of one, but so far I'm not tempted to do that.

Yes.
Focus was to get the right tools.
When that was done I had just me.
Was I going to make the music or cut bait?

Of course I’d been playing forever. The more satisfaction the less gear needs. Selecting good gear trusting yourself then it doesn’t get in your way.

Decades ago I would decide if I went to tens or SS or Tubes or or I would be happy and succeed at my goals. Then it would be onto another type of gear. Eventually I saw I wasn’t making music I was swapping gear.

After that acknowledgement I trusted when I needed to get this piece or that. Then nice basses would be just really nice but I didn’t need to own them.

I considered what I needed as a Pro. Like a P. Then I got a backup of some crucial gear. Then I was done.

Now my focus is listening to different and new compositions and groups. I feel like I am always in a state of learning. I’ll be better tomorrow than today. Even if in that quest it feels like I’m less knowledgeable because I’m in new territory.

Gas free.
A few years ago I started downsizing my collection and upgrading to better gear. Haven't had GAS for a couple years now and am even considering downsizing some more.

The only equipment I've been buying is I've gone through a few different iterations of resale shop gear bags that can hold gear and stands. Finally settled on a hard shell Plano Golf Guard roller golf bag case for $10.

Wow. This tread popped up again.

Well after a couple of months since I posted this I still find myself gas free.

Still totally happy with my Basses and rigs.

I have let my eye wander. Surfed the bass porn all over the internet.

Nothing! Absolutely nothing is generating any interest. By Basses satisfy as well as my amps and cabs.

I believe this to be a temporary condition since Gallen Krueger is bound to release a new amp soon.

Well that’s ok. I’ll have 5 heads to match 5 cabs.

Ya know, TB really should create a list of Signs and Symptoms of G.A.S. so as not to confuse potential sufferers in having a correct clinical diagnosis of the condition.

It could be having bloodwork at the hospital. The doctor comes in and says; "Bass Guy, it's not at all what we suspected. With someone of your age and condition, it is completely normal to have five heads and cabinets. Here is an Rx for (6) lessons at GC and a modification for using a fretless Bass if you are not currently doing so." :help:

I’ve been there, am there now, and will probably, at some point succumb to the overwhelming need for something in the future. I find that the bouts of GAS for me, tend to occur from a more educated viewpoint. The filed of what is needed narrows each time it happens, so maybe at some point, probably when I’m very old, I will run out of bass gear to care about....

My GAS dropped off, temporarily I'm sure, when I got my L2000 about a month ago. It's sort of like, what more could you ever want in a fretted bass... and I have the Jaco jazz bass and the Tony Franklin precision bass. So at the moment, I'm not motivated by anything that seems like I'd sound or play better on it than what I already have.

The GAS for a case queen 4003 comes around and goes around from time to time, since I've always had Rick on hand, but that's in a lull right now. But Rick GAS might be what appears when it does come around again...

Anyone else finding they have arrived at gear heaven?
I'm thinking of massively trimming the herd as I only play the sixes, esp the BTB846v, would never sell the XL2 and the Hohner B2V as a travel bass would do. Both Kawai's would stay as they're pretty.

The old Peavey Mk6 amp/head could go as I never use it and the last few years I gigged I DI'd and just had my monitor in front or me and I could get a new lightweight one for $A500 or so.

I'm starting to worry. I have been doing random searches related to gear and have not been able to find anything I either need or want. It's Christmas and my kids gave a me wireless charger for my iPhone, and I got excited. I needed nothing for Christmas and I simply reveled in my gift giving. Truly enjoying seeing my family get what they wanted. And this charger just made my Christmas. I received nothing for my Basses or amps. But there is nothing I need. Not even an extravagance. I remain gas free, and gear fat. Merry Christmas.

2020 was big bass year for me. I bought my first new Precision bass. And 40 years before that is the one being worked on now from top to bottom. So I’ll have 2 players. A roundwound strung single coil and a flats strung split coil in my sig below.
