Anyone ever run outa gas?

I'm very happy with what I have. I'm considering getting rid of the Les Paul, as it's really heavy, but it looks so cool.....other than that, the only GAS I have is for luxury items I'd "like" to have, but probably never will.

Things I'd like include: Ken Smith BSR5, Pedulla MVP5, old Spector NS2, Dingwall ABX....

I’m sure this has been covered before but I find myself totally satisfied with my gear.

Over satisfied even.

4 wonderful amp heads. 5 great cabs.

And 3 of the best Basses I’ve ever owned.

I can’t find any instrument or amplification that interest me. But oh how I love to use what I got.

Anyone else finding they have arrived at gear heaven?

Me, pretty much. :)

Last year, I had fully planned for 2020 to be a slow gear year, and I've mostly stuck to that. Reasons being: I love my basses, amps, and speaker cabinets, and this gear covers all of my needs. Example: I essentially own three amp rigs (though the components can be swapped, of course). I have a big cab for big gigs, along with smaller/modular cabs. One of my amps has onboard distortion for when I can't set up distortion/overdrive pedals.

Pedals is the slight exception. My only purchases this year are two relatively inexpensive utility pedals that I didn't own (EQ and HPF), along with yet another distortion pedal, the Rusty Box. I'm mostly glad I got the RB as it was a very-limited-edition version and I like the sound a lot, but the bottom line is that I definitely did not need it, so that was a nice reminder that I should go back into chill mode and not buy redundant gear.

Despite that latter purchase, I am happy with my restraint here in 2020, especially given that I did not need the pandemic to bring my gear purchases down close to zero... well, that's relative to my post-divorce extravagances starting around 2012. :D

Almost...but I love looking at gear so much that I probably always will.

I'm just a hobbyist, and for some of us, part of the hobby is experimenting with gear, which implies GAS. But I had a plan to own three complementary basses -- fretted P, fretted J, fretless J -- and a decent combo amp and some decent recording equipment. With the recent completion of a Warmoth fretted P build, I thought I had achieved that and was pretty happy, with the only possible remaining need being a lighter, thinner neck for the Warmoth. Pretty darned content overall, though.

And then my son, who recently ran into some money, decides that he wants to be give me a Fender Modern Player Telecaster Bass for my birthday. Basically because he likes big humbuckers and thinks I should have some too. I don't have it yet because he's fixing a couple of things with it first, but it looks like I'm about to have MORE than I wanted or needed. Not exactly a state I ever expected to be in. Of course, I'm sure my wants/needs will adapt to the new situation quickly.

I think I've heard mention of amp and pedal GAS also. That's a little rarer for me, but strangely, a Fender Super Bassman head gives me GAS from time to time:

Tube amps were all over the place for dirt cheap when I was gigging in the 80's and 90's, mainly because it was getting harder and harder to find tubes. So player. But now that the Russians have fired up the old USSR tube factories again, you can actually buy tubes brand new.

But at $1800... it'll have to be some serious GAS to get one...

I'm currently 99% content. I am a beginner, and I have everything I need to keep learning. More gear won't help me... it will just distract me. (The other 1% is me wondering if I'd be better off with flatwounds.)

If anyone knows where to buy talent though, please post a link.

My GAS is pretty much in remission at present. There are some minor "that would be nice" items, but I really haven't seen anything in months in terms of axes or amps that I look at and say "I just gotta have me one of those". What I really want most are two upgrades for my custom six-string piccolo bass, an Xtender detuning key with the locking tuner peg (matching my Schallers), and a Tremol-No so I can flip that lever without everything else going out of tune.

Always have GAS, but have learned that with a BAmp and TH500, and a V4B RI, Orange AD200B and Fender Super Bassman, anything else is just another flavour.
I think my bases are covered.....as far as amps are concerned.
Cabs.....2 115 Fender Bassman cabs, a Berg HG410 and NV215 =covered.
Basses themselves.... similar... gotta cuppla P's, cuppla J's and a hollow body.... seems cool there too.
But, as I said, GAS is still persistent, but not acted upon

I’m pretty satisfied: 10 Basses, 7 bass amp heads, 8 cabs, a couple combos, 3 vintage flip-tops, 1966 Esquire, ‘64 Jazzmaster, 3 vintage Fender guitar amps and a set of 1967 Rogers.

Yeah, I’m done unless I ever need more than 500w. Just finished up a practice amp (Eden WTX260/Eden D115XLT 4ohm) and did minor rearranging between my two pedal boards. My satisfaction level after 18 months of hunting is very high. Knew what I wanted. Got it. Don’t want more.

There are two grails out there (a BC Rich Bich 8 string and a BC Rich Mockingbird fretless), but price and rarity make them both pipedreams. Always on the lookout; zero expectations. I don’t think that can be called GAS.

I haven't heard anything for SANE $ that can replace my 94 Mesa Bass 400+,my pair of homemade 210 cabs or Fender limited edition deluxe active Precision or my 76 Hagstrom Jazz bass. But if you have the money to burn go for it.Musical instrument sales are thru the roof right now so down the road when a lot of this covid has passed and settled down some one should be able to find some great deals on ebay, craigslist, reverb etc on some nice clean basses and amps.

I am in a pretty happy place now, I stopped actively looking for gear, I have more than enough.
If I bump into an opportunity to score a Stage Streamer II and Wal Mach 2 at a very good price, I will.
But that's it for me.
