Anyone gone back to a head after going modular?

I currently have two rack systems, two head-units, and a combo. Although I like the idea of replacing one element in a rack to improve the sound instead of making wholesale changes (throwing out the baby with the bath water), I am seriously considering buying a Thunderfunk to lighten my load and simplify my life.

On an entirely different subject, I sure wish more amp makers would provide photographs on their websites that are as clear and easy to read as the one you posted!

I'm going the other way.

I'm going for the modular route. I already have a power amp to supply the headroom that I need, and I've been using my old head as a preamp. I want to get rid of the head and get a preamp (which I might have one in my hands soon after I get a PM reply!) and a rack to carry both in. Reason being is that I feel I need a change. The preamp that I'd like to get far outclasses the head that I have. (I currently have a Behringer BX3000T). Not only that, as someone stated here, if I want to change my sound, I only need to change components.

What were your experiences and why did you go back? Was it a pain to transport all that gear in the first place? Did you compromise on tone or flexibility?

I answered differently before, sort of, I hinted that I used an EDEN WT300 and loved it, except for the wattage. I ended up buying a WT550 AND a little later a Thunderfunk 550.

yes it was a pain to move the old RBI/DBX166/Stewart 1.2

NO, *NO*, ** N - O ** I DID NOT compromise on tone, and probably not of flexibility. the funk has great tone flexibility and has enough volume for good stage monitoring volume. I'VE GIVEN UP TRYING TO SUPPLY BASS FOR THE WHOLE ROOM!!! I prefer two 12" Aguilars for cabs, but I also have two Bergantino 12's for use with the eden head or vise versa.
