How does it compare to the MIA Jazz basses?

Are you just talking about CIJ Fenders? If that's the case, I personally believe the quality is more consistent than the MIA's, and I believe many can be on par with MIA's as well.

Those look like MIA basses, only for the Japanese market. They have the American Flag sticker on them. I can't see the serial numbers, but they look like MIA Fenders.

It doesn't say whether they're made in the U.S. or Japan, but they have U.S. pickups. Alder body, maple neck, rosewood 20 fretboard. Mic fence, bridge cover, matching head limited edition model for Summer '08. Includes case, strap, and shield. The store offers free shipping (though I'm assuming only in Japan, not sure if they offer international shipping, didn't see it on the shipping info page) and is tossing in 2 free picks. Colors are black, candy apple red, vintage white, old Lake Placid blue, and (my personal favorite) ocean turquoise metallic.

Yep. Lived in Japan for 2 1/2 years. Currently I'm a newbie bass player but a professional translator (among other tasks at my company).

Upon further investigation (because surfing a Japanese music store site is infinitely more interesting than the technical translation I'm actually supposed to be working on right now), these basses do appear to be Japanese-made. Also, because I'm awesome, I emailed the store to ask if they offer international shipping.
