The exchange rate scares me, but they sure do look nice. I have a friend who just moved to Japan (her furniture arrived today, actually)... If they don't ship, I might have to ask her to buy one on my behalf and send it to me 
My SX short-scale bass had the same problem with small string holes in the bridge. But 30 seconds with my small Dremel tool with a cone-shaped grinding attachment fixed that problem.
I have to say, I have owned and American 75 ReIssue, and I now own a CIJ 75 ReIssue, and the Japanese bass wins hands down. It seems as if the hardware is slightly cheaper on the CIJ, but that fine...the tuners are good, a Gotoh bridge replacement, take off the bridge cover and pickguard cover and viola.
The American fit and finish was poor in my opinion for a bass that expensive. The CIJ accomplishes what the MIA tries to do for much much less.
Eg. I could put a pick in the MIA neck joint. The CIJ is tight as a drum. I also own a Marcus and a Geddy and they too are high quality instruments. Japanese is the way to go.

Using today's exchange rates from http://www.xe.com, it's $944.61, or $991.75 with tax.
I just got a reply from the shop:

The Japanese translating was cool (and appreciated) but this is what makes you my hero:
I had/have one. I just sold it yesterday RIGHT HERE ON TALKBASS. Excellent bass. Mine had Nordstrand NJ4 pickups and the tuners replaced with "Fender" stamped Schaller tuners. It was the one in OCR (Old Candy Apple Red). The pics on their site look too dark and my pics make it look to bright red. It is actually somewhere in between. The quality is definitely way up there.
If you do a search here for "Ishibashi" (it's a Japanese music retailer), you will find many posts from the past year where they and many other Japanese sellers started to not be able to sell new Fender Japan instruments to the US. Your best bet at getting one is to either go to Japan and get one, or check ebay or here for used ones.
