i'm irritated because you said "jeopardy" when it's clearly "wheel of fortune." both merv griffin productions, though.I think it is funny that all you have to do to irritate the ampeg-philes is say; well lets play jeopardy-

Lol, I can't wait to see what JimmyM has to say about that...
I've never really disliked them, but I wouldn't buy one. Different strokes for different folks.

Know anyone playing through a 20-40 year old SS amp?
nice godwin's law, bro!SVTs especially through an 8x10 have slight grit that climbs through a mix and fits real well. It's not the tone I prefer. Is that all right with you all?
This is America. People fought and died so that you and I can walk in a music store and pick out any amp we want. You know, not one with the name of the State on it with a Swastika plate on the grill cloth.

Tonnes of people, including myself.
Although if I wasn't so happy with my Acoustic 370 I'd probably be looking at buying an Ampeg.

actually it was because amps weren't very high power back then and that was the only way to fill an arena stage with sound.SVT's are not as clear or punchy as Hartke and when I owned a BAR, the only amp that broke down was a freshly serviced SVT just picked up before the show. I loaned the guy a HA 5500 which he played though his equally vintage Ampeg 8x10 box.
It is wise to remember that Eric Clapton said that Cream did not put all those Marshalls on stage to be show offs, there was no QA as we know it today and amps simply could not be trusted.
