Anyone on TB know any famous musicians?

Opened a few shows for Muddy Waters. We shared dressing rooms each time. Nicest guy I ever met. We talked a lot.

I've never heard of most of the other "famous" people mentioned in this thread.

Oh, yeah, I did post here about the time Albert King sat down on the bar stool next to me, and I had the pleasure of having a short conversation with him, (and buying him a drink, and shaking his hand), but I certainly did not know him personally, but that's the best I've got.

A girl I go to school with in Southern Ohio's mom once dated Billy Ray Cyrus.

She likes to think of it as "I could have been Miley Cyrus"
Even if this was the case, she would fail miserably due to her terrible vocal skills. Which is funny because she is a vocal music major.

Scott Travis (Judas Priest) sat in on drums with my band. OMG, it was like playing in a thunder storm. Every crack was soooo huge and sharp. Will never forget that.

Flirtin With Disaster is part of my setlist, first time I ever heard of Molly Hatchet. Excellent player for sure, give him my props.

I grew up playing with Don Dixon (producer of REM, Smithereens, et al--he's also a writer and performer). I still see him occaisonally. He came to my brother's funeral last year, and we played some a few years back. He's married to Marti Jones.

Used to know Terry Rosen, guitarist, who played with Sinatra some, Nancy Wilson, et al. He died some years back. Also, Johhny helms, trumpeter who played with the NBC orchestra for awhile on the Tonight Show.

I'm friends with the cousin of one of the guitarists in Every Avenue, and my Ibanez once toured Europe with a guy that used to be in Iron Maiden. But that's about it.

HA! I had an interesting get together w/ every avenue in their van before a show that I opened for them once. They are some funny dudes and its a wonder that any all ages venue would hire them. It's actually curious how they can get through an entire set without falling over drunk. Cool guys tho.

Back to the OP-
My old man is a radio DJ and I've met a few talented folks through him. We gave John Hiatt a ride to a private performance once. He was super laid back and even let me check out his guitar.

When I was about 14 I answered a call from Robert Randolph and had no idea who i just spoke to until I was about 18, 4 years ago.

Met Jason Newsted at a NYE party I played at a couple of years ago. I was in a progressive metal band with the original (washed up) singer of Flotsam and Jetsam. we were doing a modernized reformation of 90's FLA hair band Mirage.. he stole my 5 string corvette

Wouldn't call him famous, but Reverend Peyton from his big damn band fishes at my parents house occasionally. He's a great guy! Actually ordained too.

Jason Mraz crashed at our house in 2001 for a couple of nights. I woulda been 11 i think. Nobody woulda guessed he'd have huge hits.

Don't know about famous but I know many pro musicians who are in the business. Some who I grew up with and played in local bands with back in the day. Most likely no one you'd know. Tony Cintron (drummer), Phil Hamilton (Guitar) who has played with Luther Vandross, Roberta Flack and Vanessa Williams among others. Stephanie James (Vocalist) who has been a longtime backup singer for Taylor Dayne. Sandy Anderson (Bassist) who was in Unlimited Touch and was part of a "who played bass on" controversy (Odyssey-Inside Out). Lenny Underwood (Keyboardist). Wondress Hutchison (Vocalist) who I was briefly married to. She sang with a band called Mantronix in the 80's. And there a few more.
