Anyone order gear from Amazon?

After two disappointments in a row from Guitar Center I'm thinking of ordering my MB210 from Amazon (I can't find a way to order it directly from G/K), anyone ever had any luck with stuf like bass cabinets? I've ordered some small stuff (most expensive was a GPS for the motorcycle, $1000, it was perfect), but never anything like this. Any opinions?

Don't quite understand what you mean by "any luck". I've ordered several items of gear from Amazon - mostly electronic devices such as DIs and various processors, etc. Always came right on time, in mint condition - just as promised.

I see no reason to expect anything less from their bass cabs - or anything else they have for sale. I don't see any issue here... :hmm:

Home electronics a few times, no problems. Great shape and on time.

Gear I'll try to get someone else to beat the price with a price match. That's only because the music gear world works that way. Usually someone will nickel and dime with you. I'd have no reserves ordering gear from Amazon.

Most of the music gear Amazon have for sale is via their 'Marketplace' which means it's dispatched from a third party seller, usually a music shop, rather than Amazon themselves. The shops are then charged a large commission by Amazon for the sale, much like Ebay do. Personally I'd rather buy directly from the music shop as, all other things being equal, I'd rather the profit went to them rather than a huge corporation like Amazon. Too many music shops are closing down these days....

I bought my Eden cabinet directly from Amazon and it came quickly and arrived in perfect shape. There is a good mix of supply in Amazon. They are starting to sell a lot more stuff directly now.

When you go to buy, just make sure it says "sold by: Amazon", and you should be good.

I've had favorable results with orders through Amazon, both direct and through their third-party suppliers. And, of course, books, CD's and MP3's. Amazon, like eBay, is a huge corporation with a good reputation to protect. If you ever have a problem with a purchase, let them know and they'll work with you to get it resolved.

Amazon ROCKS,,, I have ordered tons of stuff from the them, including my 65" Panasonic plasma as well as bass guitars and amps,,, plus Amazon has killer return polices (but do double check the return policy if your buying from a Amazon re-seller).

"Some" sellers return policy's differ from Amazons, but most of the time not.

If your buying directly from Amazon then there is never a problem with taking advantage of Amazon's own liberal return policy.

I used to buy tons of stuff from Amazon, but stopped recently because they charge tax here in NY. There's many other online retailers I can buy from that don't charge tax (zzounds.com, americanmusical.com, for example). On the net, its VERY easy to shop around and get the best price.

The only thing I ever ordered through Amazon was a Poulan Pro Snow Blower. It arrived earlier than expected. The delivery driver even had a lift gate on his truck and a pallet jack. Good thing because it weighs 240 lbs. He also brought it right into my garage for me. I was provided with a tracking number and I was able to login to my account and track the shipment. A few days before I received it, the freight company called me to arrange a convenient delivery time. Very smooth transaction. I would use them again.

Amazon is the king of online retailing and operates with the highest integrity. As mentioned earlier, musical instruments (and more frequently all sorts of items) are front-ended by Amazon and fulfilled by other retailers. In the case of music equipment it's often from Musician's Friend, ZZ Sounds, etc. It will tell you if that's the case when you look at the detailed description. No reason not to go to the actual retailer, IMO.

Amazon has absolutely NO inventory of it's own. It's similar to e-bay except there are no bidding wars. It's all Buy it Now, except you can find the best deal.

You are buying through Amazon, not from them.

I spent a month doing mural work for Amazon's Senior VP (Brian Valentine) in his private museum and got to hang out with him on his ranch in Montana. Interesting guy and an interesting business strategy. He used to be head of OS development for Microsoft prior to becoming VP at Amazon (his girlfriend was the Pres. of it at the time).

Thanks guys, I had heard they had a great return policy, I'm hoping not to have to use it! I just want my amp, brand new in the box, no scratches that I didn't put in it myself. I think when I get my credit from G/C I'll give Amazon a shot.

I've almost pulled the trigger a few times on basses from Amazon (both directly from Amazon and from third-party sellers through Amazon), but ultimately backed out from lack of funds.

I've definitely done my fair share of ordering through Amazon and I haven't had a single complaint. In fact, I have their rewards credit card because I do so much shopping through there (Abebooks and Amazon are invaluable text book sources).

as others have said I believe a large part of their stuff comes from MF anyways (which is GC)

fwiw I've been shying away from Amazon. They won me over early on by being a stand up company, but as of late (the last few years) I find their site annoying w/ the used and new and all the crap they have listed on the page. Too overwhelming to shop at IMO - if you know exactly what you want and can search it out then I guess it would work . . .

fwiw I've never had a problem w/ MF. their return policy is killer and they've been pretty good w/ dealing w/ issues - I've gotten the better part of my gear there for the past several years. ASCAP gets me 5% off and I have their c card that differs interest for a bit too
