Forget what Mayan end of the world predictions are, our friend Harold Camping is back with another one of his doomsday dates.
As heard on a Sacremento Ca based talk radio program, Camping has locked in the evening of May 21st 2011 as the end of the world, through precise calculations based on what some are calling arbitrary numerical theorems.
Despite his 4 last prediction dates, he has quite a following and has reportedly drawn assets of $120mil to fund his charades.

May 21st very well be the end of the world.... for Camping, as he is 90 years old.

I was listening to a program that interviewed him on NPR, and he was asked about his apocalypse prediction for 1994, and he said he had improved his research since then because now includes information from the book of Jeremiah.

I know fresh reading can yield new information from any text, but that is a bit much, IMO.:hmm:

Frankly, this whole issue of end times is utterly irrelevant. If you don't believe in Christian prophecy, it's nothing to you. If you do believe, one would assume that you have already submitted your soul to God.

I’ll be sure to have an early dinner on the 21st, just in case. I’d hate to have my stomach growling during Armageddon. And since I only stand a 2% chance of achieving glory, I might as well have my fill of wickedness and sexual perversion between now and then. :D

I remember growing up in the 70's. That was when the world was supposed to end in the year 2000 or something like that.
Anyone remember the "Late Great Planet Earth" book? I actually recall tv commercials for it and a follow up book by that author.

I looked up his website a couple of days ago - he relies HEAVILY on the passage which states that "A day is to a thousand years and a thousand years is to a day...".

Using this handy conversion factor, however, we could also say that the end of the world will occur 11,000 years from now.

There is a massive billboard ad for this on my way in to work.

A friend of mine did that story I believe.

As I said when she and I talked about it "This guy is going to have a lot of egg on his face on 22 May."
