Apocalypse 05-21-11, here we go again! - All "rapture" posts here please

A friend of mine said he wanted to hit garage sales and thrift stores and buy a whole truckload of cheap pairs of shoes, then fill them with dry ice and leave them all over town so it looked as if their occupants had just evaporated.

Your friend is a genius. Be extra nice to him, maybe buy him a cookie or something.

Exactly. That a**hole down in Kansas that shows up with his cult at soldiers' funerals annoys me a whole lot more.

WAAAAAY more. Sadly, he has the right to do so as well...

At least someone is making full use of their 1st amendment rights.

Great Idea....
For full effect he needs to get some secondhand clothes and don't forget underwear . Lay them next to the shoes

end of the world or maybe just end of this thread, eh?

i think that, so far, most posters here have been able to distinguish between the christian religion and this one guy who happens to use the religion for his own purposes.

i do hope we can maintain that distinction.

I'm still confused btw, this means we can make fun of religious beliefs that we find silly on TB now right? Because I've got a whole bunch of threads locked and loaded making fun of unsubstantiated religious stuff.

This has nothing to do with relegion, IMO. I dont think any religion predicts the end of the world coming this Saturday.

Exactly. I could claim that Harry Potter books contain a secret formula which gives the date of the end of the world. I could pick a book at random, pick passages at random and come up with a date and it'd be no different to what this guy is doing.

Can't help but wonder how many people are hiding under thier beds right now. Reminds me of the whole Y2K thing. There was a guy at work back then who fanatically believed that everything was going to come crashing down and overnight, life would be as it was in the dark ages. As that day approached he got worse in his behavior. One day he was really freaking out about it and in a very clam voice I said "John, nothing is going to happen." His head shot up, his eyes bulged out and at the top of his lungs he screamed at me. "HOW DO YOU KNOW? WHAT MAKES YOU SO SURE? WHAT PROOF DO YOU HAVE?"

By the look on his face I thought he was going to start crying. I just shook my head and walked away.
