Are Class D amps really 5 times less powerful than A/B?

I myself have edited several wikipedia articles in the past. While it's true some pages are protected, they're more rare. What you're saying seems to run counter to my experience, and I'm curious where the difference comes from.

Anyone can edit but there is a dedicated team of editors that will reverse your entries if you do not provide proper citations to show that your edits are valid.

This is why every entry has a series of footnotes at the bottom.

They want you to register there. It used to be that anyone could edit without registering but I believe they tightened up on that a bit after a lot of vandalism occurred on certain topics.

I know someone who created his own biographical entry there. He had some (very) minor notoriety in his field back in the 80's, but the editors there ultimately took his entry down because it appeared to be self-created and edited, which is a big faux-pas there.

The reason I know this is that there is also always a discussion page where you can see the editors' discussion of how and why they are changing entries or what they're requiring in order to leave entries up. In his case they wanted additional source material to support his claims about the work he had done, but sources were limited because most of his achievements were pre-internet.

I guess if you are well-known enough they figure someone else should be tooting your horn. The real takeaway here though is that you can see how the sausage is made if you just look at those discussions.

I rocked about 1500 people with it last night. Had to turn down once. But the thump was there. BIG TIME!

So let me put it this way.

Class D is NOT digital.
Class D is NOT 5 times less powerful than an equally rated amp.

Misinformation or lack of being properly informed will not change these facts. There are a lot of people in this world that need to realize this.

This whole time we have been gigging heavy, expensive tube amps when we could have been gigging arenas and stadiums with 100 watt Class D practice amps! I mean a 100 watt Class D Rumble is the same thing and puts out the same power right? Awesome.

In a now somewhat long in the tooth article published in the journal Nature in 2005, the reliability of scientific data on Wikipedia compared favorably with that from the Encyclopedia Britannica online reference material.

Giles, J. (2005). "Internet encyclopaedias go head to head: Jimmy Wales' Wikipedia comes close to Britannica in terms of the accuracy of its science entries". Nature. 438, and references within, especially the point by point rebuttal responses by Nature editors to Britainnica's objections.

This is because they use the same conventions for vetting the accuracy of what is published there as academic journals. No system is foolproof but there is a burden of proof there you don't find with very many other internet sources. This is a conveniently overlooked wrinkle for those who claim the information is unreliable because "anyone can edit."

Yep, anyone can edit but only the well-sourced edits are allowed to remain. You might get unlucky and see some misinformation there if the editors haven't gotten around to removing it yet, but if you learn how to read footnotes you might be able to tell for yourself if a claim is true or at least backed up by additional info.

That said, nothing is 100% problem free but this system of citations and footnotes is about as good as anything we've come up with so far.

Because the "pro" bassists have endorsement deals, and road crews .
In most circumstances, at the end of the day, in the audience little to none of what reaches your ears has anything to do with the stage prop visuals.
Geddy's washing machines sounded better that the chicken rotisserie rig by all accounts.
Slayer's massive wall of Marshall's were just props.
As were Eddie Van Halen's and Yngwie Malmstein's.

Mesa Titan (owned and loved) driving a car subwoofer cabinet and it will sound shite.
Its all a system, and the largest portion of what you hear is paper cones moving air.

If you are dead set that 50+ year old technology is superior to all the engineering efforts since, why argue the point?
