Are Landing basses THAT good?

Yes that was me. I sold that one because I wanted Jimmy to build one more to my exact specifications I designed it all by myself and Jimmy executed it for me. I have been on a crazy tone and feel quest for the last 3 years. This was due to a freak wrist and hand injury that I sustained about 4 years ago.

I also now regret selling that bass. I sold it before I fully understood its capabilities.. Oh well we all live and learn.

Jimmy just did a bass for me that I feel is going to be my go to bass from now on. I was talking to another bass builder who is a friend of mine and he stated that he is very impressed with the work that Jimmy does.

I think it's important to have trust in the person who builds your bass and stay with them and to listen to their ideas as well as your own. It is a joint effort.

I went to a music store yesterday and strapped on a tele guitar just to see how the body would match my body shape (ie my gut's too big :ninja:) and it fit fairly well. I've had experiences in the past where shortscale bodies were too small for me (SX Jag).

I thought for some reason tele bodies were on the small size but when I compared it to a strat, the upper horn was shorter but other than that they were pretty close.

Anyway, I'm getting pretty close to ordering the Landing Tele. Just a few more things I need to get squared away.

I'm a former Landing owner. The only reason it isn't still in my hand is - finance. It was a gorgeous bass, and everything about it was perfect.

The neck felt superb. Jimmy uses only the very highest quality parts. Not sure who makes those necks, but whoever does - knows what they're doing.

Also, the purchase enjoyment factor: Unlike these other bozos we read about at TB that take people's money and don't deliver years later, Jimmy will ensure that your purchase experience is nothing but tons of fun. He Will deliver when he says he will, and you will be pleased at the results.

Will it be the best bass you have ever played, or better than your Stammie? Impossible to tell. But, you Will get an excellent bass.

The necks on Landing are super smooth and mine is very stable. The fretted neck was probably the smoothest neck I've ever played though I did exchange my neck from a fretted to a fretless (I mostly play fretless).
I have both a Landing and a Birdsong and if I had to choose I'd most likely keep the Landing over the Birdsong. I'd love to get a Darkstar Landing and will when I could afford to. Also the finish on my is incredible. Also Jimmy is a great guy to deal with. I only wish he'd update his late 90's web site.

Good things come to those who wait.

Get another Stammie.

If this is just a fad bass that you have to have now, save some coinage and go to Invalid Link Removed to get all the stuff for it. You can probably get everything routed and ready for assembly for less than $1000. Take it to a local luthier and have him set it up & tighten up the wiring for another $150 and WHAMMO! 6 weeks, and $500 saved.
