Are Landing basses THAT good?

Just got a reply from Jimmy and he says there's no difference......but I'm sure there must be some, even if it's very little......I don't know how long the lead on the pup wires are or the route, guess I'll have to contact Jimmy about it cause I'd like to rotate the neck pup and see how it sounds....how are yours Chef?

I'm fairly certain you'll have enough wire. You only need a couple more inches (that's what she said!).

Seriously though, if you just take off your control plate you should be able to see how much wire is in there. It will definitely make a difference, but not a huge one. Sort of like plucking right below the neck vs 2 inches closer to the bridge... that difference is not huge but it is noticeable.

Louise, if you get really desperate, bring your bass over to my place and I can do it for you. I can't guarantee success for certain, but I can at least take a look at it.

If the wires are too short you could bring it a luthier or any competent tech and they can solder a few more inches for you. Its a pretty easy job.

neither of my darkstar basses are a landing, so my info probably won't help you.
it is easy enough to add wire, if you need to, either by soldering, or a crimp connector.
soldering would be the preferred method.

Something doesn't make sense there. I got my custom pg pretty quick and I think the DS took 5 weeks not 13 months. :atoz:

Probably the darkstar. For a while there, they were tough to get, but according to Jimmy, Fred is shipping them on time now. I sure hope that's true since I've got an LDS2 on order. The specs will be:

dual DS, P and J sweet spots, w/ series/parallel switch
ash body, clear topcoat, no pickguard
rosewood board
brass frets (think Warwick)
4-in-line headstock
side-jack instead of strat-jack

Will hopefully take delivery sometime around Christmas, but Jimmy is evidently very busy these days, so.... good things come to those who wait.

Nice tele bass BASSIST!

You got to remember that my pickguard is a "Crocodial" and Jeannie's had sent Jimmy one but they made it a one pup and I was having a 2 pup bass being made and also they had run out of that material and then they found a stray piece (thinking they had none left) and sent it but it took a while and the DS pups took forever, months, that was over 2 years ago and Hammon was having a hard time keeping up with orders.

Yikes. Still seems like a crazy wait time. Glad things are more settled now.
