OK, thanks. I'll try to watch this thread for an update when you get it. I'd like to know how well it meets your expectations. Seems like everyone who had dealt with Jimmy Wilson has nothing but praise for him.
I think Jimmy is waiting for Fred to finish the Dark Star for BASSIST (I'm waiting for one too). I saw a pic of the tele bass it looks really nice.
Jimmy got my DS from Fred a couple months ago. He's currently applying stain to the body.
I really hope I dig this bass... the Stambaugh I have is pretty stiff competition, let me tell you.

Should I go darker?
It looks so shiny because its still wet. I'm going for a more dull, satin look with b/b/b (black) pickguard.

I enlarged the pic, so its a bit fuzzy, but its looking nice. Jimmy says it wont be this shiny when finished as I asked for a satin finish. However, I like the shine too. 
Yea, the shine looks beautiful! Although, I did like the referenced satin finish you showed earlier in the thread. I have no experience with satin finishes, so in your opinion does the satin finish effect the tone or durability of the instrument? Thanks!
It wont affect the tone, but it will be less likely to get scratches. Also, satin hides finger prints much better.
Oh man... I've been wanting another since I got my current one. You're not making it any easier to resist. That baby looks incredible.
