Are Landing basses THAT good?

Hey, have any of you guys actually seen/heard a clip or a YouTube of a Landing bass? I can't find one anywhere and am curious if you've had any more luck than I have.
Loopee was kind enough to let me check hers out it person. The neck is very smooth and workmanship is pretty nice. I also had my concerns quelled regarding the darkstars. They do have some midrange in them but I'm fairly confident I can get a good tone out of them.
Haven't seen any vids on youtube of a Landing, but I did see a clip of Jimmy Wilson putting some pickups in a bass that was modified.. but that was at least a year ago.

I wish I had your luck to check one out in person. I ordered one back in November. It's going to be his first passive JJ bass with custom Aero pickups. I'm not so sure you're going to get your bass in three months 
I do have 1 or 2 youtube videos of my Landing. Search youtube for Papasean Johnson. If you see a white bass that looks like a Strat, that's the one......
I really didn't try to pin him down on a time cause I new it would take him a while and I didn't want to be annoying. I still have my award winning short scale SX jazzes with Nordies and Fralins so it's not like I need it asap. I just want him to do a good job. Lol, but if you get yours before I do, I might have to send an email 
Well if you go see Scott @ Birdsong you might not leave without ordering a bass from him as he's a really cool guy and his basses are really really nice.
My Landing is a fretless. I originally got my fretted (My bass was from a canceled order) then after about a year I got a fretless neck from Jimmy (had to send the fretted back). Here's a before and after:
Jimmy painted the headstock to match the body and it looks really cool.
The fretless sounds great. I can get a really varied tone with this bass. Even with humbuckers I can get that sort of Jaco tone with bridge pu but if I switch to the neck pu I can get a really deep tone. Mine has the mid tone controls so that helps.
If you go with EMG's consider getting the BQS system which adds the mid-control. Also look at the 35TW pu which can switch between humbucker and single coil. I may switch mine out someday to one when I get the funds.
One of the best things about those landing basses is the Strat jack. I don't know why they aren't on more basses. I had one included on my custom short scale:
Mmm, Bandit, that's a juicy bass! I'm feeling that heady mix of GAS and envy. The matching headstock looks great, and the whole bass looks tight and well put together. I do like the idea of establishing a relationship with a luthier who's willing to do ongoing mods like that.
A question: are Landing basses shielded properly from the getgo? That's one thing that impressed me about Birdsong basses, that they all come shielded and star-grounded. IMO, if you are a custom maker, the electronics should have as much care put into them as the wood.

It's self-designed and built by UK luthier, Mike Walsh (best known for building Squarepusher's bass).
It's 31" scale, ash and maple, bolt on.
I have no idea how I missed this thread for so long. I was lucky enough to come across a used Landing L30T prototype about a month or so ago and it's fantastic. Jimmy is a great guy and he really stands behind his products. I was told through an email exchange that my bass is guaranteed, regardless of whether I'm the original owner or not.
Eventually, I'd like to talk to him about my own custom, but I'm extremely happy with the one that I already own. A very high quality product that fits my needs perfectly.
Of course, I take every opportunity to show it off as well.

Lovely axes, both of them! I like the "fade to black" effect on those Landing basses. The GAS is being fueled...
Hopper, that's a very comfy looking bass! Must balance well, and the placement of your cable jack is inspiring. I'd love to see more makers focusing on important ergonomics and comfort. To be honest, I've never seen a bass design that I didn't think could be improved upon, so I may just have to spring for my own custom with some design ideas I've had bouncing around in my head. That bass looks extremely well-thought out, and I'm sure you love it!

I strongly think that they are... any bass built as well as these should be. However, I'll double-check that with Landing.
My Stambaugh is very well shielded.

Jimmy said the finish was supposed to make the bass look like it is being viewed on a black 'n' white TV screen. I think it's awesome, and of course the pics don't do it justice. Much, Much better looking in person.
