They CNC everything else, it's just an extra minute to write the program to drill eight tiny pilot holes, another thirty seconds per unit in the machine, and one more tool in the holder... eliminate the potential for human error- program the pilot holes.

On the slow summer weekends I sometimes spend hours combing through gear listings and once in awhile my eyes play tricks on me, but this time I'm not sure - is the bridge pup on this crooked???

Note that the one on the left is the one with the D string out of the saddle that @Flippy is seeing.

Also note that the one with the D string out of the saddle weighs 4 ounces more. Perhaps, through some quirk of physics (or should that be "quark of physics"? ) that I don't yet understand, misaligning the pickups is a weight saving strategy?

I’m not real familiar with these basses, but it looks to me like this is a saddle issue more than a bridge issue. Do these saddles move side ways like a Fender Bass? Also, looking at how these saddle are set, I would not be surprised at all if there is a major intonation problem as well.

Actually, further to my last post, there are some pretty significant weight differences on Sweetwater's site, for what are supposed to be the same basses. I wonder if there really is that much difference? For example, in the two Lakland Skyline 55-02s below, the difference is about 13%.
