Are there any Korg pedals you guys like?

I use to own a korg 'toneworks" ax3000b bass modeling signal processor. it was an awesome multi-effects processor. it has a large variety of effects, amp and cab models. you can create a lot of unique effects with it. the reason why I don't have it anymore is because I wanted a portable multi-effects processor. although I wouldn't mind purchasing a korg "toneworks' ax5b. I would recommend korg processors(including the pandora series) anyday. speaking of korg processors, I have sound samples of the korg ax3000b on my soundclick website. here's the link.

When I played guitar back in the day I used to have a Korg Toneworks G-1 Distortion processor. I LOVED that thing. That and my Seymour Duncan Live wire humbucker created a HUGE wall of death. I also had a G3 effects processor but sold it after realizing I didn't use too many effects and the ones on the G1 did what I needed fairly decently.

I was checking out some Meshuggah bass covers a while back and found this guy covering "Bleed" and he uses a Korg Pandora PXD4. First I ever heard of it. He's got a gritty tone that sounds pretty wicked.

I remember that guy's youtube clip on another meshuggah song he covered. the other cover meshuggah cover he did was called combustion. indeed that guy's got a pretty killer sound. I saw a comment on his bleed cover video saying that he uses a korg pandora pxd4 and a digitech bp80. also he says the punchy sound came from the new strings on his music man bass. I'm guessing that he may have also achieve such a punchy sound from and exciter effect from the korg pandora px4.

I once knew a guitarist who was so fond of his Pandora that he used it in his rig. He used it live. Off course it was not easy to switch presets while playing.

IIRC bassybill also uses/used a Pandora for gigs.

That's correct - I have a Pandora and it's great. In fact, I sold all my stompboxes and my pedalboard - now I just use the Pandora, velcroed to the rat fur on my Markbass combo. Tuner, mute/noise gate, amp modeller, EQ and FX all in one (very flexible and programmable) little box. I'm a one setting per song guy so this works for me perfectly. Seems to be less noisy when duplicating the tones I used to get out of a string of pedals, too. The sounds aren't exactly the same as I used to get, but there's no way anyone but me would notice, and then only when I'm playing solo rather than in a mix.

I used to have an AX5B which I sold recently. Effects on it were pretty good actually, except drives and distortions which sucked big time (ironically, that was the reason why I bought it in the first place). Everything else is pretty good, even the compressor and limiter are very usable.
I disagree about how some people say that its complicated to navigate through the unit. It is rather simple really, though I guess that it can be a bit hard to memorize what are parameters' names on the respective amp simulations without the manual, since they tend to differ.

The only bad thing about it is the plastic housing. Dont get me wrong, it took some serious abuse from me, and its still like new, but again, plastic is plastic. Anyway, I sold it because I got Behringer V-amp pro for ridiculously low price. It does the grindy SVT simulation a bit better, plus has a bit more usable overdrives and a DI out. It seriously lacks in effects, but then again, I never used them on the Korg that much except basic delays and a bit of synth now and then.

So, yes, I would recommend AX3/5/3000b series highly.

I had the Korg Synthepedal a few years ago. It's an envelope filter which takes an expression pedal with a five-pin plug. I have no experience with the exp. pedal, and the envelope filter only sweeps up. However, the sweet spots are oooooh sooooo sweet! Here's the Synthepedal on sampled bass guitar played on keyboard (incidentally, the simulated rhythm guitar is my custom Sequential Circuits Six-Trak vintage synth program through a Univox Effectmatic, which is a licensed '70s Mu-Tron III clone):

Yeah, I had the A4 back when I started playing in the nineties, eventually sold it to a friend maybe four or five years ago, but aside from the Digitech BP8, it was probably the only MFX unit I have fond memories of.

The expression on the AX5B is pretty useless, being so teeny tiny. It moves less than an inch back and forth, so accuracy is near impossible. And those who are looking to buy it for the synth may want to rethink as it is extremely limited.

I've gotten some minor use out of mine and have even been able to use it some for live work (but admittedly very little). I use it more as a way to produce beats and test basic song ideas without having to write everything out on Guitar Pro. Actually, as a mobile beat production studio it works very nicely (or nicely enough that I haven't even felt the need for something else).

I have a AX3000b (as new shape too) but am too frustratingly stupid to figure out how to use it despite "simple" explanations. I might as well throw it away I get so angry. Crap, I'm getting mad writing this.
