Are these two cheapo basses the same?

I got my bass today. It came with a rosewood neck instead of a maple neck as shown in the auction. I have emailed them with that issue. I paid a whole 3.00 extra in choosing that one instead of the one Johnny Crab chose! I unwrapped it and tuned it up. It doesn't sound half bad. I am going to step out and say it does have a Stingray type tone (big step) without the "airyness." The action is pretty low and doesn't have any buzzes. There aren't any sharp fret ends. I am curious as to how they will handle the neck issue.

Trussrod on the blue one works.
I agree with Stinsok's description of the sound.
This thing KILLS 24/7(and cuts through the entire band) when run through my "Rickenbacker bass sound" patch. On my "normal" patch it is very good, esp. for the $$$.

Stinsok,
Did you order the black, short scale eBay model from sigutech?

How long did it take from order to ship?

Do you feel like anything needs to be swapped out (pup?) or is it good to go as is?

Pulling it right out of the box you could play a gig with it. While the tone is "ok" I plan on a pickup swap. It took a week to get it from California to Alabama. This is the auction that I bought it from. The description is for an SG copy but all photos are of a black/maple bass.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

I will buy another. For 100.00 shipped it's a very good deal.

Here is the reply I got:

Sorry for inconveniences.

Please kindly check the listing and we haven't posted the maple neck for the item

I replied that the auction shows multiple photos of a bass equipped with a maple neck. I would like a refund.

Stinsok,
I'm sure you're right on the rosewood. On Amazon it also has photo of maple neck, but prod description says rosewood.

My big Q is did they send you a short scale 30" (like it says in the eBay description) or a FS 34"? The Amazon description says 34", so now I'm a little concerned about that.

Thx.

It's a 34'' scale. The ebay description is for an SG copy. They replied and asked if I wanted a refund. I told them yes, and asked what steps do I need to take. I don't want to pay return shipping since the item was not the same as the shown. It's not that I have a problem with the rosewood, I just wanted maple.

They sent me a return authorization today, with me paying the freight. I'm not going to ship it back. In this case I feel that I shouldn't have to pay return shipping (because of the misrepresentation of the neck.) With the exception of the E string pole alignment it has exceeded my expectations. I have been playing with it like it was out of the box. Going to make some small tweaks and swap the pickup now.

Strings?
I use the strings that come with it unless they are REALLY garbage. Some are, some aren't. The strings that came on these clones are ok. The Texas ones' seem to have a lot of oxidation on them(my fingers get black).

NOTE: After 2 weeks the Dr. Tech blue one's action starting "going high" so tonight it got set on wife's kitchen island on a towel(my bass workbench), strings loosened, and all set to adjust the trussrod. WHAT?
There was no tension on the trussrod, it had not been tightened down at the factory.
It got "tensioned" plus about 1/4 turn more just in case, strings tensioned, and put back in the case to set overnight.
Check your trussrod on the Dr. Tech basses if you got one.

Adjusting he truss rod should be part of the setup on any new bass...especially a cheapie.

BTW Johnny where in S. Tx are you? I'm in Corpus Christi.

Should be but it seemed to be OK without touching it, too much on my plate that day?
I'm in the boonies between Houston and Corpus, about 95 miles down Hwy 59 south from Houston.

Clever move on the pole alignment.
Also, the Texas seller originally sold me(his auction ad) a natural-bodied 4 string with a maple neck. I later was told the natural body was already sold and was given a choice of a black one or sunburst....both with maple necks. I took the sunburst.
