I tried an SR605 yesterday & wasn't impressed. The taper core B string is waaay too floppy to play anything at speed. Also, the string spacing on these things is ridiculously narrow for anyone with big hands.

Maybe suitable for smaller hands, but definitely not for my style. They look & sound pretty, though. If they took the SR bodies, increased the spacing & made them 35" scale, I'd buy 2 of them.

Really digging the SR700 in the trans blue finish...might have to sell my SR600 and pick that up.

Can someone explain the bare patch of wood below the neck joint? To me it makes the bass look like a prototype. It must be there for a reason.

It's (apparently) to allow for easier access to the higher frets...I don't really care for it either.

Edit, from Ibanez's website: "The neck tongue not only creates a unique look, it also makes utilizing the higher frets easier."

I really wish the premium and/or prestige line would get some color. I'd never buy a non ibanez bass again if they weren't so boring for me to look at. How about that SR400 purple on a premium?

That bare patch of wood is the heel of the bolt-on neck. These aren't neck-thru instruments.

The SR necks are too skinny for my big hands.
Never tried a Grooveline. Nobody ever has them in stock, due to their unconventional body style. That and the price point on them puts them beyond a Spector ReBop (which is one of my all-time favourite basses and under 10lbs).
