I just checked the DVD out again and you're right, the SB1000RI is right there along with his Cirrus 5 string. I wish there was a bit more "twang" when he used it (like back in the 1984 tour) but it does sound great overall. I'd love to play one and compare it to my original.

This guy was produced in the Matsumoku factory in Japan in 1976? (Serial # 761700). It is a magnificent copy of a maple-necked fender p bass. Everything is original except for the pickups (put some fender pickups in there). This guy has the nicest-feeling neck of any bass I've ever played except for the Jaco Pastorius distressed J bass.

Hi there, Any opinions on the IGB series basses? Does anyone else have the 30" short scale models? (I forget the model number maybe IGB-56?) I have 2 of them. They have some pro's and con's. I love the light weight sculpted body, and articulate kind of burpy tone. What I don't like is they're a little shy on bottem end fullness, the neck is the wide flat type, and they don't have an arm contour so they rub me a little, but overall they're pretty cool little basses and I gig with them often.

1977 first digit is the year of manufacture in the matt factory unless it falls on the turn of the decade

I have a Primary P as well. I agree about the neck having an amazing feel. I put a Nordy pup in mine. An awesome bass indeed!!!

Based on the info from the Matsumoku site I believe it's a 1970

I almost felt like I was robbing the dude I got it from. I found it on CL for $350 with a deluxe fender case. Looked like it hadn't been played at all. The pickups are a little microphonic, they'll probably be replaced with a DP149 set soon. Other than that it's pretty amazing. I played it next to my buddy's 1976 fender Jazz and we both actually agreed that the Aria's neck felt waaaaaaay better.

Hey Zuma, I believe I messaged you on youtube before. I have the 1000CB. Its pretty much the same as the RI except for the black finish and hardware. I agree, I've noticed that its a bit darker sounding than my Elite II. Still a very nice bass and sure packs a good punch!
I hope to get round to recording videos of both of them to compare them soon. :bassist: :)

I'll throw them up on youtube when I do.

I need to get that DD dvd, what's it called? :confused:

Hey achtung, the Duran Duran vid is "Duran Duran Live From London", which came out in 2005 I think. You might as well get the Deluxe Edition. :) There's a DVD as well as a CD of the concert with a few songs ommitted. Loads of good footage with JT and his SB1000JT. Zuma is right about the sound not being as twangy as from JT's 80's sound.

Hey folks, I'm trying to identify accurately my Aria Pro II bass, and figured here was the best place.

I picked it up sometime around '98, and it has no model number on it at all. It looks closest to the IGB-50 now, with infinity pickups (split one in the neck position), and has the same style headstock, but with 'Aria Pro II' on it. The serial number is 'S00010246', and it has a bolt on neck, with 'Made in Korea' on it. Pictures will follow, but any help in identifying this would be greatly appreciated, as I'm looking to sell it and wanted to know a fair price, which is hard when I don't know the model! :bassist:

It's definitely part of the IGB series. Here are some pictures of my Aria Pro, which at some point in the past I determined was an IGB-68. You can see the similarities in the headstock, bridge, tuners and control knobs.

Looking at the pictures and specifications [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], yours definitely appears to be an IGB-50.
