About 20 years ago, I put $50 down on a guitar in a shop, then forgot about it.
Went back there about a year later-they had sold the guitar, but I had $50 credit in a guitar shop, so I had to buy something.
Got an Aria Pro II The Cat bass, red sparkle body, clear neck, J & P passive pickups for another $70 cash. I had not played bass for several years at this point, and I thought it would be a good practice bass.
It has a very fast neck, good tone, light weight and makes no electrical noise..
I put new strings on it, sanded the clear finish off the back of the neck, and it became a real pleasure to play.
A bit later, I recorded a radio commercial with this bass and got paid $80, so I figure the Cat cost me $40.
I still have it, and have started playing it regularly again.
From the SN, it was made in '86.
The neck is as good as the old 1960's Danelectro Longhorn I played 40 years ago, unfortunately long gone.
The tone is very flexible with the pickup combination.
I'm amazed to see how many of you use and like the Aria basses.
When I brought it into the recording studio, the engineer was very snooty about the cheap crap bass, but it sounded great, and it still does. I intend to put a few bucks into it, but it doesn't need much other than new strings and knobs.
