i also want to trade my kustom bass amp for something smaller or lighter, the reason is cause i have a bad back.

You've got a lot of options there. Distortion has a lot of different types? What kind of sound do you want? For companies, I'd suggest fuzzrocious, Ryan has every kind of dirt imaginable it seems.

As far as delay, digital or analog? There are a lot of good digital delays. I like my hardwire DL8 and the line6 DL4 gets lots of love here.

Moog and Maxon make some good ones. Just so you know, though, digital ones can sound pretty awesome too, and can be much less expensive.

For a good distortion in the same price range as the Ashdown, try the Digitech Hardwire Tube Overdrive. It gives a nice overdriven sound without loosing low end.
