Assuming

I don't hear drums in my head, but I do count 1-2-3-4, or 1 AND 2 AND 3 AND 4, as needed, etc. If it's too complicated to count and play at the same time, I rely on my tapping foot or bobbing head. Or, in a way that mimics dancing, sort of, I clench my butt muscles to the beat. :whistle:

The ol' Kegel-nome!

The drummer in my head is frequently the drummer in my right hand, playing 16th notes (or eight notes if the tempo is fast). I've also got a grid, which has gained accuracy over time. When I really need to figure something out, I have a dumb metronome with a bunch of drumbeats on my phone.
