Asymmetrical neck conversion?

It was suggested that I repost in this forum... SO...

Wondering if it's possible (and a good/bad idea) to take an existing neck - something reasonably big like a Fender V - and re-sculpt the back of the neck so it resembles the asymmetrical necks found on Tobias and other basses? I was thinking of sanding or shaving the G string side of the neck down a bit, and that might make it a bit more comfortable...

Depending on how much material you take off the back of the neck it could be risky.

If you take too much material off, the neck could become weak, causing twist, bow or reducing its sustain.

Also, if you take too much material off near the center of the neck, you could run into the truss rod channel, leaving the rod exposed.

If you're okay with the possibility of ruining the neck on your first run, go for it and see what happens.
